There's no way Jade found out herself, someone must of saw us one of the times we goofed around. I swear no one else was in the office though, maybe they saw us together outside the office. Regardless we have to deny everything for the sakes of our job. I believe I'd be fine since I'm Vice President but Myra might get fired.
"What? That's ridiculous she's just works on my team, nothing else."
"Do you agree Myra," Jade focuses in on Myra hoping she'll crack or say a different answer. Her intense stare does have that effect on people.
"Yes, he's my boss I'd never jeopardize my job over some meaningless relationship." I know she's trying to convince jade but that still stung a little which is dumb because she doesn't actually feel that way.
"Alright, but you're rather close. The anonymous tip showed you out at a coffee shop together." She shows us on our coffee date a week ago, in the photo we aren't doing anything romantic. It honestly looks like two friends going out for coffee.
"Well, she was my assistant for three months, we grew a great friendship nothing more. We get coffee from time to time just to talk, what is that forbidden too," I say a little annoyed. I want to know who's snitched because they're going to regret messing with me.
"No it's not but they also told me how you brought a girl with a very close description to Myra in your office to have sex." Damn is this person stalking us, if I knew who it was then it could be easy to figure out what they know.
"Well I have multiple lady friends some have similar features to Myra I guess. Look I don't know what this person think they have on us but it's all absolute bullshit. We're just colleagues and frankly I hate having my business being announced in front of my subordinates." I say getting up ready to leave. The longer I stay the harder it'll get to lie.
"Okay I believe you, H. I just needed to go through all the evidence presented to me," you two can go. Myra doesn't waste a second getting out of the room I stay a little longer to ask Jade a question.
"Jade, can you tell me who is spreading rumors about me?"
"I'm afraid I can't but he probably did because they wants your position." I know she purposely said he so I know their gender. There's seven other guys that work in this department and only three of them are qualified enough for my job. Now I have to talk to each one found out why they did it. And just maybe make their life a living hell during work hours.
*** Myra avoids talking about what happened in Jade's office for the rest of the week until now. She wanted to talk at my condo after work, so that's what we're doing now.
"Harry, we almost got caught and we've been pretty good hiding our relationship from our colleagues. However it's not enough whoever this person is are probably following us hoping to catch us doing something and when that happens we're both fired or at least me."
"I know, baby. I'm going to find out who it is don't worry," I say grabbing her hand but she pulls away and a tear slips from her eye.
"No, Harry you don't get it. Jade wants to publish my book she read it and thinks it'll be a best seller, I can't have a scandal coming out. I'm so in love with you, Harry. You know that but I think we need to take a break for the sakes of our careers."
What she wants to breakup. I know why but I think we can work this out. I don't think I can handle not having her around or talking to her everyday.
"Baby, no we can fix this—" she cuts me off.
"Harry, I don't think we can. Unless one of us quits which I'm not and I don't want you to then we need to break up. I'm not saying forever but until things are different in the office," she weeps holding the side of my face as a few tears fall from my eyes.
"Okay but we don't know how long that'll be, what if you find someone else."
"I won't. My heart belongs to you Harry. I just want the best possible future for the both of us."
"I love you," I say hugging her since it'll be our last embrace until I don't know when.
"I love you too." We share one last kiss and I ask her to please stay for the night.
"You know I would but it'll only make it harder to leave you." I nod and she kisses my cheek before she leaves the condo in tears.
I practically stay in bed filled with sadness for the rest of the weekend but come Monday morning it turns into rage. This is all because of some guy who wants me fired. We'd still be happily together if it weren't for him. I'll find out who it is and definitely make him pay for breaking us up.
