I felt my body automatically tense up as I saw Graceton come into view, and soon thereafter, my new home. I sighed as the song that was playing came to an end, as well as the long driveway to the house.
I still can't believe that that woman would do this to me, to us! She claims to be doing it for our better judgment, but I know that she did this for herself. She always only thinks about herself. Even when I was little and we went to parks, she didn't want to push a stroller the entire time there so she just made me walk. Okay, so the strollers may have been broken. But still! That was a lot of walking for me as a young child!
I let out a loud groan as I opened the car door and got out. I made sure to be careful that I didn't slam Alek's door in frustration and anger. He loves this car as if it was his baby, and I don't want him to yell at me for slamming his door.
The house was big, only a little bit smaller than my house back in L.A. It probably has about 20 to 30 rooms or so, and from what I could see it was very modern. It has an eight car door garage and has 3 levels to it. I didn't have to take a look to know that there is a pool, a patio, a small tennis court, and a garden to know that they are in the back yard. It's just a standard for my mother. And she says that we're the ones that need to be brought back down to earth, ha.
Near the garage I could see the in-ground basketball hoop; I got a little exited at that. In all honesty, I love to play but with my cheer leading during the fall and winter seasons, and lacrosse during the spring, I never had the time. So it became a passionate hobby of mine. I would always play every day with Alek in the summer, and he'd complain when I beat him. We're both great at it, I just happen to be the one who puts their heart into it.
This new house is basically like my old one, the only difference is that it's a little bit smaller and there's a barn on the side of the property. I mentally scoff at my mother's attempt to relating with the rest of the town. She thinks that since it's a small town, then everyone has a barn on their property. If they do, at least theirs isn't a pathetic sky blue.
I can sense someone's eyes on me, and I didn't have to turn to know it was my mother. So instead of giving her the satisfaction of me being slightly pleased with the house, I have it a hate and disgust filled sneer before huffing and dragging my feet inside.
I didn't have to ask to know where my room was, since everyone one likes to live on certain sides of the house. I prefer to live on the west side of the house, and my brother the south. While my parents like to live on the east side, they love waking up to the sun rising almost as much as I loved going to sleep with the sun set. Alek says he doesn't care, but I know he likes both so he stays at the middle so that he can get what he likes.
As I walk down the hallway I can see that most of our family portraits and art pieces are already hanging on the walls. Mother likes things to be done quickly, so I presume that she had them start all this about a month ago, leaving only the furniture and personal items left.
I round a corner and see a pair of French doors, I know that I've been asking for French doors for like 5 months now, but I'd rather have them at the old house. I know it's my mother's attempt to make this up to me, but sadly a pair of French doors doesn't change anything.
I gasp as I look around my room. It's bigger than my old one, and is all decked out. The house is only a little bit smaller than my old one, and has a lot less rooms, so it makes sense. But I never thought that my new room would be this big! It's like an entire side of the house is dedicated to just me! My closet is the size of a luxury bathroom, my bathroom is the size of a bedroom, and my bedroom is the size of a living room that connected to a kitchen. I just stand there in awe of the size, not even paying attention to the set-up of my new room or its color scheme.
I'm guessing that my brother helped with my room because I know that my mom wouldn't know that my favorite color is turquoise. All my furniture is black, making the color pop even more than it already does. I have my window seat that I know I'll spend a lot of my time in, my sofa, bed, dressers, night stand, creative decorative lamps, and a new plasma screen TV. It had to be about 60 plus inches because of how big it is.
I turn towards my huge walk-in closet and notice that almost all of my clothes are already in there. They were even in season order, going from summer to fall to winter and finally in spring, all around in a sort of circle along the walls. My shoes were along the bottom of the walls and in the center of the room in storage around the plush sofa in the middle of the room. On all four of the walls is a ceiling to floor length mirror that is about 2 feet wide, set up as a way to check out how my outfits look.
I leave my closet, making sure to close the doors; I head towards the bathroom to take a quick look around. Just as I'm about to open the door, I hear a huge truck pull in and I run to my window hoping it will be carrying my cars. I have two, Alek has two and my parents each have one. I have a silver Porsche and a black Maserati. Alek has his Hummer and his Venom GT. What can I say, we like fast cars. As I peer out the window I catch a glimpse of my shining silver and black babies and let out an excited squeal.
