it's new years eve-eve. right now, i should be planning what im gonna wear tomrrow to an n.y.e. party. but, unfortunately, i have no party to go to. so, my n.y.e. plans just look like im gonna be sitting in my room watching netflix till the ball drops.

im sitting in my bed, and suddenly my phone lights up. its a text from a new groupchat with my friends mia and carmen.

i get a little confused as to why they were texting me right now. they're both hot-shot new york models, and i'm caught off guard why they would have time to text me in the midst of their probable party planning.

carmen: heyy y/n

mia: y/n, hi!!

hey guys :D whats up?? :(y/n)

mia: do you want to come to an nye party with us??

carmen: please say yes!!!!!!!

really?? why me? :(y/n)

carmen: becauseee we heard you just moved to san diego, and we got invited to a party in los angeles, so we thought, why not pay y/n a visit!!!

mia: and we also thought since we're going to cali for the party, why not just bring you!!

wow!! thanks guys!!! cant wait :)))))))) :(y/n)

they text me the rest of the details, like what the address is, money for an uber, and the dress code. i really can't believe why they would pick me for a party like that.

second person pov:

you brush off the fact that you probably aren't gonna be as classy as mia and carmen. but, you did have a dress that you've been waiting to pull out of your closet for awhile. and honestly, it was pretty perfect for the occaision.

this dress was a gift from your very best friend, y/f/n. it was a 'going away' gift. you didn't understand why she got you a dress of all things, but now, you kind of understand. at the time when she gave it to you, she said it was for "a big emergency california party" which didn't make any sense to you, since you were only going there for school.

not to mention that 'california parties,' whatever that is, don't happen as often as she thinks.

it's now nighttime, and you're laying in your bed, thinking about what's gonna happen at the party. you try not to stress about it too much, but your fear gets the best of you. this was probably the peak in your calfornian party life.

this is probably, if you will, 'a big emergency california party.' you just hope you won't screw up.
