~Theodosia~

I tightened the ribbon on my light blue dress before inspecting myself in the full length mirror on my wardrobe once again.

Leaning closer I shift my curls lightly where they hung in a ponytail. I was taking lunch to my Father, Aaron Burr, at his new job in the New York State Assembly. And his new job just so happened to be right down the street from Columia College, where all the smart young men would be on their break as I walked through.

I blush slightly as I recall the face of a handsome young man I had seen just three days ago. His brown curly hair hung freely around his face, emerald eyes stood out against his navy jacket and his smile shone as bright as the sun. I would be lying if I said it didnt take my breath away.

After buttoning up my boots I slipped my new copy of Lover's Vows into the basket maybe I can spend a few hours reading in the park before Mother comes home

I fluff my hair a final time as I take the turn to the next street, putting on a shy smile. I slow my steps as I begin to pass the Columbia College, the streets much busier now with vendors in their carts and students milling around. I scan my eyes over the crowd, looking for the emerald eyed boy.

A shoulder collides against mine, sending me into to the ground.

Before I made impact I felt strong arms wrap around my waist and hold me up. I gasp, turning my head to see my rescuer.

His emerald eyes meet my brown ones and I quickly pull myself from him, stumbling slightly as I regained my composure. My hand reaches up to my hair, smoothing it down as much as the curls could "T-Thank you" I stuttered, blushing.

He grinned "my pleasure, Miss?"

"Theodosia" I stick my hand out "Theodosia Burr"

A glimmer of recognition shines in his eyes, he extends his hand to meet mine "Philip Hamilton" he reaches down to pick up my basket, a finger taps along the cover of my book "Lover's Vows huh? How is it?"

I nod my thanks as I recieve the basket "I havent read past the intro" I laugh softly, holding up the basket I smile "I'm actually taking my Father some lunch and then I was planning on reading in the park for a few hours"

He grins softly, his eyes closely watching my face. I blushed as I studied the small spray of freckles along his nose why is he so cute?

"Would you allow me to escort you to your Father's work?" he blushes slightly has he holds out his arm for me to take

I blush and nod quickly "yes! I would really like that" I loop my arm through his and let my arm rest agaisnt the blue of his coat

We continue down the busy street before a whistle draws our attention, Philip covers my hand on his arm with his other hand in a reassuring way.

A young man, a boy really. Walks towards us, the same gleaming eyes and hair as Philip but missing the spray of freckles.

Philip laughs softly "Theodosia, this is my brother Alexander, he'll be starting at the College next semester"

I smile and nod my head in greeting "Congratulations, and it's a pleasure meeting you Alexander"

He smirks and does a dramatic bow "Pleasure meeting you as well ma'am"

I try to hold back a laugh and blush as I see Philip doing the same. He rolls his eyes and smiles at his brother who smirks back "did Mother send you?"

Alexander shook his head "no" he holds up a letter from his pocket "Father recieved an important letter so I'm bringing it to him"

Philip nods "well, you better be on your way then"
