Until the date of my birth arrived...
Everyone was already awake even before the break of dawn. Well, it's usual for them to wake up that early here in the province. But this time around, they were all busy preparing and cooking for the party. I was amazed. It looked like they were in a frenzy. All of them were moving. Flaglets were already dancing in the wind. Grandie really has that penchant for extravagance.
I hurriedly looked for my grandparents and I saw grandie prepping ingredients for the feast. "Grandie, good morning!"
"Hey! The birthday boy is awake! Happy birthday Beam. I hope you will enjoy this simple celebration we have prepared for you." Grandie said.
"What do you mean simple? The whole village is invited and I heard that the governor will even drop by! Plus from the looks of it, we have so much food. There's even a char-roasted cow! Wow!" It was astonishing to see! It's not the usual celebratory feast we have in the capital.

"Where's grammie?"
"She's around here somewhere doing her part for your birthday."
I sae grammie talking on the phone. She seemed delighted for some reason.
"Grammie! You look like you're in a good mood."
She smiled. "You'll be in a better mood later, that I assure you."
Woah! What did she mean by that? But then I replied, "Of course grammie, it's my first time to experience this kind of celebration. It's like a fiesta! Thank you grammie! I love you."
"I love you too Beamie." We hugged. "Well, go on and prepare, your mom and dad will arrive soon together with your cousins from the capital."
"Really? Yey! I thought they won't be able to come because it's already been a week since we last talked. I didn't hear from them since. Well anyway, I'll go and prepare grammie."
I was nervous and anxious while I was prepping myself. My grandparents bought me a colored barong. I think they know that I love splashes of color so they bought one, contrary to the usually plain white variant. It was a swatch color combo of yellow and orange. They said it represents me because it's the visible colors of the sun, you know Beam, like sunbeam. I completed my OOTD with black pants and shoes to highlight the vibrant colors of my barong.

T/N: Barong is our national costume for men. It's usually worn during formal events. The picture above is actually me during my oathtaking as a licensed chemical engineer. I look young hahahah! I'm 21 years old that time.
All the preparations were done by the time I went back down.
There was a huge cake in the center the backyard. Visitors were coming in droves and were wishing me a happy brithday. Some were even kissing me on the cheek while others shook hands with me. My eyes wandered to look for the people I missed so much. But my parents were not around yet.
Moments later, a vehicle stopped just outside the gate. I saw that it was papa who was driving it. I bolted towards the parked van.

"Papa!" I jumped and hugged him.
"Happy birthday son! Wow! You lookk dashing in that barong! My babylove is so cute!"
My smile disappeared. Only P'Forth calls me that endearment.
Mama then stepped out of the van and I hugged her tightly too. "Ma, I thought you guys won't come."
"Hmmm, stop sulking. You know that I can't very well ghost you right? You're my one and only babylove." She replied while brushing my hair.
Again. Babylove, again.
Why are they calling me that? But I just shrugged it off. Maybe they just miss me so much so they used the same endearment coincidentally.
Next, my cousins from my father side got out of the van one by one. They each greeted me a happy birthday and gave a gift.
"Wow! Is it the end of the world? This is te first time you all gave me gifts on my birthday!"
We all laughed out loud.
I invited them to the feast inside so they can eat. I knew they were all tired and hungry because of the long travel. "Ma, Pa, let's go inside. Let' eat."
The group walked a bit when I saw the door of the van was still open. "Hey, you forgot to close the ban. Tsk!"
For some reason, I walked back to close it. Though I know that nothing will be stolen inside it because the whole village know each other. I held on the door handle and pulled it so it will slide close. But there seemed to be something inside that's stopping it from doing so.
I turned to look at my family. I was surprised to see them all staring back at me together with my grandparents. They were smiling and grammie was even happier than earlier. They all looked like they were waiting for what I will do next.
I thought maybe something got stuck inside or the door got broken. I pushed it open one again and I saw something inside that made me froze on the spot. My hands ran cold and shook. I found it hard to breathe.
No, not something...
...someone.
I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to say. I just stared as if asking, "Why?"
The root of my shock suddenly spoke, "Hi babylove! Happy birthday!"
It was my P'Forth.
I didn't notice that my tears just flowed down on their own. I turned to my parents. They were smiling back at me. My eyes asking them if my most beloved was really here.
P'Forth stepped down from the van and embraced me. My knees gave away and I rounded my arms around him too. "Babylove, will you forgive me? I'm sorry babylove..."
I sobbed continuously. It felt like a dream. And if it was, I hope I won't ever wake up because I'm so happy that I'm with the person who makes me happy. My most beloved phi.
But then I realized something and I faced P'Forth. "What are you doing? Why are you here? Where is Josa?" I asked in succession.
P'Forth suddenly placed his forefinger on my lips. "Relax babylove. I told you that I won't ever leave you. I love you and I will fight for you. That's why I'm here."
