IMPORTANTI've changed Hardin's name to Caster Hell (now updated on previous chapters as well) so that there isn't affiliation with 'After.' And to make him more to my creation. I mean unless you want me to change it back 😆 any comments would be so appreciated ♥️

The room is tiny

The room is tiny.

The walls are chipped, painted a strange golden gray, and a single light bulb is dully flickering in the center.

A peculiar single desk stands in the middle, with Caster, standing between it and me.

"So...what is this place?" I ask.
"This is the entryway," Caster says simply.
"...the entryway to what exactly?"
"All in good time."
4 words that aggravate my impatience.
"What do you- how do you know about me and why-" I huff. "I need a little more explanation you know!"
Caster comes closer towards me, and slowly extends his arm out to close the 124' door behind me.

He looks at me for a good 5 seconds and then says, "You're a wizard, right?"

I hesitate.

It's FINE Alex. You're a powerful full wizard just like Harper said. If anything happens, just erase his brain.

"Yes." I say firmly. "Now what are you?"

Caster gives me a sly smile. "I'm a Senser-Recruiter." He says. "I'm quite sensitive to mystical energies so whenever we-I feel something, I investigate it for...potential usefulness."

I let out a frustrated groan. "What does that meaaannnn"

Casper rolls his eyes. "When you arrived, I felt an intense energy surge in the school. This happens pretty rarely," he began to explain, pacing back and forth.
"I knew there must've been some kind of intense magic source somewhere on campus. I began to worry I wouldn't find it, since the scent was beginning to blend in with the crowds of the school."

Caster looks at me intently.

"And then I felt a spark. Something small. The morning of the first day of classes.
Somewhere nearby...in the parking lot."

Oh.

"I thought it must be another dead end- I went to my car to drive around looking for any signals-"

"And then me." I say.

"And then you." Caster affirms.
"At first I was really confused. First your Selena Gomez resemblance took me by surprise, and then the fact that you BROKE into my car, somehow, without a single tool, scratch, or dent."

"Well I read online you know there are ways-"

"AND then as your cute clumsy self stumbled out of MY car I spotted a little something on your necklace..."

my mini wand

"Which looked quite a bit like a mini wand a friend of mine has."

Friend?

"I couldn't figure you out though. You hardly seemed like a powerful enough source for the amount of sudden magic surge in the school-"

"Wha-uh Excuse me?! I so totally AM powerful!" I cross my arms defensively.

He snorts. "Well I knew I had to find you again to learn more, and well, you made it too easy. You came to me. And I knew you'd go to the party. You seem like the type."

"And what type would that be?"

"misfit, adventurous," he smiles subtly.

"Yeah ah huh, go on." I gesture.

"-And the final cherry on top was when you did the silent mind reading spell on me. Pretty impressive."

I shrug like it was nothing.

"So finally, I knew it. We have a full wizard on our hands. Still doesn't quite explain the size of the initial magic surge, but I'm sure the rest of us can help figure it out. You definitely are something."

"Us?" More questions were being created than answered.

Caster grandly extends his arms out in a gesture. "Welcome to the Society of the Unconventional Beneath's - Mystic Arts Division.

Or the SUB-MAD, as I call it."

What?

"Is this a joke?" I ask.

He gives me a is that a real question? Look and shakes his head. "I thought you might put two and two together" Caster says. "Haven't you ever heard the rumors of the elusive underground gray magic groups?"

The What?

"Well erm No." I answer.

"Didn't they teach you about major and minor legends in Wizard middle school?"

I shrug, trying not to loose my cool. "I mean I didn't really go-"

"Ugh- just come" Caster grabs my arm and pulls me towards the desk and sits me down on it before I realize what's going on.

He knocks a pattern on the desk and chants:

"Down below, let them show, to all, they must become anew, once again, do as must, done is due, let us through!"

Suddenly, the room transforms into a mesmerizing spinning gold spiral, the desk spiraling with me on it, and then-

We plummet.

Straight. through. the.

FLOOR.
