Chapter 10- Scary Scars

"You can do it y/n! Just relax yourself okay!" I heard Jin's voice encouraging me to pass this session of overcoming my fear over the darkness.

Here I am clutching my hands into fists as I know that I need to be strong. I need to pass this test. There was a VR device attached to my head and I need to pass through the house in the game where light will get reduced after passing each and every stage.

I have already passed many stages and now there's just a small light lit up in the house where I need to walk in the game. My heart accelerated as I felt myself getting scared by the vast darkness prevailing in the room except for the small light which is similar to a match stick.

I can hear my own heart beat as I felt myself getting trembled. Chills ran through my spine which made to gulp as soon as I stepped into the room filled with darkness. I tried to keep my concentration solely on the little light that I could see and I made my way slowly to the exit trying to complete the stage.

I breathed out in relief once I reached the exit but Jin's words gave me a little pang in my heart.

"Y/n! The last stage. Come on! You can do it!" I gulped hearing his words even though I couldn't see his face I knew that his face would resemble to a mother trying to encourage his son in a running competition.

I hesitated a little bit to accomplish his words but still I need to do it. I don't want to live rest of my life crying over my fear. I need to put an end.

I slowly made my way to the dark room which was the last stage in the game. It's pitch dark, darker than dark. My fingers turned cold due to immense fear I'm experiencing right now and I felt like I'm out of air. It's hard for me to breath. Even before entering the room I felt myself shivering.

Sweat beads formed on my forehead and throat went dry as I tried to breath with my mouth. It was hard to breath, and I guess my lungs weren't working anymore. My heart beat became faster and it felt like I'm hearing my own heart beat. I inhaled deeply trying to get air but failed miserably which made me to rip the VR device off my head. Clutching my heart I tried to inhale normally but I couldn't.

Jin immediately rushed over to my side and rubbing my back soothingly he kept mumbling his one and only mantra.

"Inhale, exhale. Inhale and exhale." he raised him palm up and down as If he's trying to tell me what is meant my inhaling and exhaling. And surprisingly I followed his moments and leaned against the couch being exhausted.

"You need to do it Y/n! You should try harder." He said while sighing a little bit clearly depicting his disappointment.

"I'm trying Jin! But I don't think I could pass that last stage ever." I said truthfully.

"You're restricting yourself to the therapy. It's like the fear got stamped into your brain and you wouldn't want to change that." He commented and I couldn't help but to scoff at his accusations.
