Princess Angela entered the servant's quarters shouting on top of her voice;
"Gwen, Gwen!"
she entered the room; the one assigned to the ladies.
Gwen stood up from where she was having breakfast and ran to meet her. She bowed. "Yes, your highness."
"Gwen, why didn't you come to fix my hair?" she snarled at her.
She begun to explain, hoping the princess would not be too harsh on her. "Your highness, I couldn't believe myself too, it's just that I couldn't get up, I couldn't open my eyes, I didn't move my legs."
She looked at her and smiled hateful. "So, because of your inability to understand your body system; you choose to delay my hair.....What are you doing now? Stand-sleeping?"
She shook her head. "Your highness....."
If she wanted to finish it; she would have but Princess Angela didn't give her the chance; her face was married by the stinging slap on her face.
"You ingrate! Do you take me for a fool, ignoring your duties! Enough already, stop giving me those silly excuses." She said rudely.
"Now, come fix my hair before the duke arrives with the prince." She said without looking at her.
With a hand on her cheeks and her eyes fighting back the tears; she bowed slightly; "Yes, Your highness."

"Gwen is having such a tough time with the small lady.' Isabella one of the maids commented in the kitchen; as they went about making dinner.
"Poor thing! She only live to serve her." Julie; another maid sprang up to her friend's defense.
"Can you believe; Gwen is older than her." Another said.
'Yes, she is four years older; I pity her and her majesty is doing good, letting her remain here.' Julie said pitiful.
'Yes, I agree. Don't you girls think we should attend the party tonight?" A little lady replied.
The maids laughed. "Are you crazy, Natasha, we are never allowed to the party.' Julie told her sharply.
"Why?"
"Because you will lose your job." She told her.
The maid didn't talk again.
The other maids laughed; soon they became quiet when they heard the Queen's approach.
'Her majesty." They bowed to their feet.
She nod and look round not pleased.
"Where is Gwen?"
The maids exchanged glances at one another and wondered why she liked Gwen so much to be bothered about her absence.
"She is in the Princess' room fixing her hair for the prince's arrival; even though her hair is fine." Natasha told her.
She looked at her gently and walked out.
'Natasha, watch the way you speaks next time.' Julie warned.
'What?"

"How do I look?" Princess Angela asked standing up; she spins round.
"Marvelous, your highness." She replied gently.
"Hmm." The princess hissed; totally not interested in her opinions.
Gwen picked the diamond necklace about to put it on her neck; it slipped from her hand and the diamond broke as it hit the ground.
"Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! What have you done? What have you done to my diamond!" she asked as she got furious.
"I am sorry, your highness. I didn't mean to break it." She pleaded already on her knees and her palms pressed together.
"You really hurt me, girl, I am tired of you, you will pay for this! You will pay dearly!" Princess Angela was already on her feet.
She moved to the side of the wardrobe and dragged a long stick; before Gwen could think of standing; the Princess began to hit her.
Suddenly the Queen entered and the princess stopped and looked at her mother.
"Angela, what are have you done?" She asked helping Gwen to her feet.
"Mother, this tramp, this scum, this stupid maid broke my diamond necklace.' She insulted pointing to Gwen.
The queen looked at the diamond scattered on the floor and looked back at her daughter. "It's okay, stop beating her so much." She pleaded to Princess Angela.
"Mother, she has to pay for it or spend the rest of her miserable life in the dungeon." She declared.
"For just a small accident?" She shook her head and looked at her. "You will do no such thing; she will give you the money for it." Her mother told her.
