Hello, and welcome to Gold And Shadow, my newest fanfiction about the underrated and amazing Books of Beginning trilogy. I'm glad you're here, but there's a few things you should know before starting to read:
You absolutely have to have read all three books in the trilogy by John Stephens to comprehend what's happening in this story. If you haven't, you will be confused and you will probably receive spoilers.
You do not have to read my other TBOB fanfictions, Dance of Magic and Time's Tragedies, to read this. This could be considered a spinoff, but it could also be considered and read as an individual story. However, if you wanted more detail and explanation for certain things in this story (Rafe being alive, etc.) Dance of Magic would provide you with that information.
This is a TIME TRAVEL based story, and such will contain all of the usual confusion and chaos that goes along with that. There will also be scenes of violence, darkness, and references to apocalyptic events. Vulgar language might also be included. You are responsible for what content you can handle, just know that I love twists and turns, and I can be quite the sadist. This is your warning.
This story is centered around friendship and family primarily, but there is some romantic elements between Kate and Rafe, as usual. Other than that, it mostly involves the complexities of time and destiny as explored by Kate, a time traveler, and Lila, a seer. Lila is my own character, and her background, characterization, and part in the story are my own. However the role she eventually fills and pieces of her story are not.
Finally, I'm excited about this. I wasn't planning on writing this, but then the idea came to me and my impulse control failed. So here we are. And I don't regret it, because I get to write about the complexities of time, and about my favorite character Kate. I'm going to try and write it as much as possible (it will be shorter than some of my other stories) but if my updates are slow, don't panic or nag me, please.
