Day 6: Dreaming

Now I lay me down to bed
Ramped thoughts fill my head.
Who will leave me?
Who will stay?
Will I make it another day?
Should I stop trying?
Continue crying? Try dying?
Why should I continue?
Is it worth it?
Could I make it?
A certain feeling, I can't shake it.

I close my eyes
Watching white fade to black
My mind goes numb.
My body quickly falling slack.
The wild thoughts slowly become reality.
I'm getting confused.
What is this supposed to mean to me?
Candy clouds and cider water
Drained by imaginary animals
Walking among them
Images starting to falter.

Cider turns to blood
Animals become cannibal
Peppermint sun turns to a raging ball of fire
Bodies sprawled, decaying in the mud.
Candy trees turn to hanging posts
Asphyxiation from nuclear air
Heart beats racing to the point of exhaustion
Dead silence happens before...

...I woke up.
