The Promise

Something New

(A/N: Warning, this chapter is long, and may bring some feels.)

My brothers and I are out for our nightly patrol. April and Casey came too. There isn't much action tonight, and I couldn't detect any mutagen. It was somewhat quiet besides the noises of the city. "Duuuuuddeeesss I'm so borrreeddd! I could scream! .. AAAAAHHHHHHHH-" "SHUT UP MIKEY!" My brothers and I said in union. I facepalmed and looked at my mutagen detector, still nothing. I glanced down at the street below us, there was a little bookshop right in our view. I don't know how to explain it, but it gave me a warm feeling. The little fairy lights inside were comforting. "Mikey's right," Raph said, snapping me out of my thoughts. "this is boring." He got down from the skylight he was sitting on. "Tough luck, Raph." Said Leo. "We're splitting up for better coverage of the city. Casey and Raph with me, Donnie, Mikey, and April, together. " I was with April? And Casey wasn't? I looked at him and wiggled my "eyebrows". He glared back. "EAT IT CASEY JONES! EAT. IT! " I proceeded to do a victory dance. "Ha ha! Bowchicabowbow!" Then I fell flat on my face, right in front of April. Casey had tripped me with his hockey stick. "Eh heh.." April only rolled her eyes at me. I got up and dusted myself off. I turned to give her a nervous smile, but she was too busy flirting with Casey. That was until Leo broke them up with an annoyed look on his face. "Come on Casey, they're staying here. We're going to the South side." Casey groaned and let himself be dragged off. But just before Leo had dragged him all the way to the ladder, he winked and smiled at April. She giggled and blushed. Ugh! That Puckhead! 

*Time Skip*

It was 10:34 PM, and Donnie had been ranting to Timothy about what had happened earlier that night. "And she gave him that look! You know, like this!"

"Can you believe it?! Of all the-" Donnie was suddenly interrupted by his lab door opening. And in walked the one person Donnie didn't want to stay within a mile of. Casey Jones. "Hey D, how's it hangin'?"Casey leaned on the lab desk, nearly knocking over his new batch of  Retro-Mutagen he was working on. Donnie snatched up the beaker. "Careful with that! It's taken me months to even come close to the finished result!" Casey rolled his eyes. "Geez, sorry."  Donnie narrowed his eyes at him. "What do you want Jones?" He smirked at Donnie. "Nothing really, just wanted to tell you something." Donnie sat the beaker on his desk and faced Casey. "Shoot." "April and I are going out now." Donnie couldn't believe his ears. An uncomfortable silence filled the room. "W-What?" Donnie stuttered out. Casey's grin grew wider.  "After patrol, I walked her home, and asked her if she wanted to grab some pizza. She said yeah. We picked it up, and had a nice little date on the rooftops." Donnie had a weird, tingling sensation in his stomach. "T-That doesn't mean anything! She ate pizza with you, so what!?" Casey narrowed his eyes at Donnie, and continued to grin at him. "Oh, but it does," He paused. "She confessed to me."  Donnie's heart dropped. "Oh.." Was all he could get out. Casey looked him over and chuckled. "You really thought you had a chance with her?" He laughed, Donnie despised his laugh. "You're just another mutant Donatello."  Casey got up close to Donnie, and whispered in his ear: "And that's all you'll ever be." Donnie's throat felt tight, and his face was growing hot. Casey decided his deed was done, and strutted out of the lab.  Donnie could feel the tears forming in his eyes. He needed to go somewhere, anywhere but here. He ran out of the lab, tears streaming down his face. He barely had time to see the shocked faces of his brothers. He had left his T-Phone on purpose, he didn't want to be found. He wanted to hide away, far away, from everyone and everything. He didn't deserve them anyway.
