________'Happy birthday sweetie! Hope you have a great day!''Many kisses hyung! Have a fantastic day!''I'm takijn us out for dinner! hbd!' 'Have an amazing day tdy u beautiful human <3'
The birthday messages continued pouring in from Hoseok's friends and family. Everyone close to him had wished him a merry happy birthday, planning outings and dinners to take him out on such a special day.
Everyone except Yoongi.
The atmosphere in his tiny single bedroom apartment was uncomfortably thick. Even his own friends had picked up on the tension long ago as soon as they had walked into the space.
The two of them had had a pretty heated fight a week ago about his continued 'grumpiness'—was how Hoseok had worded it. Yoongi was tired and Hoseok clearly understood that since he'd been working so much. But the older's short patience with him was making causing him to go crazy.
It seemed he bit Hoseok's head off every time the younger opened his mouth. He couldn't say anything without it being a problem—couldn't even complain about the AC being turned down so low. Hoseok was officially done with the man's unsurely mood. He couldn't stand constantly being yelled out or getting fingers pointed at for the tiniest of things, so he decided to put him in his place, warning him that if he didn't stop talking to him like some child—then he shouldn't bother talking to him at all. It almost seemed quite childish but what could Hoseok do if Yoongi brushes off everything he said?
Since that day, Yoongi has chosen the latter and hasn't spoken to him since. Hoseok really thought his plan would backfire—that Yoongi would see it was just some stupid act, then he'd apologize. But it didn't go that way at all.
Whenever Hoseok and Yoongi had fought in the past, one of them would usually break the silence after an hour. Hoseok expected him to try and fix things, like apologize for his hostile remarks but nothing. The younger feared this was the end of their relationship—3 years at that. That this was Yoongi's way of breaking up without saying it.
It was like two strangers under the same roof. Hoseok still shared the same bed, but at different times. He cooked and ate his own meals separately and spent most of the day in a different room away from each other.
But today was Hoseok's birthday for crying out loud—and while he was grateful and ecstatic to receive such beautiful messages from those who loved him, the memory of his angry outburst and Yoongi's silence sat heavily on top of his shoulders. Just knowing that he and Yoongi weren't okay was proving it difficult to enjoy his day out of the other 365.5 days in the year.
A sudden knock echoes throughout the apartment startling Hoseok as his head jerks to the door in the hopes to hear Yoongi striding to answer it. When you hears nothing after a couple of heartbeats, another loud knock comes. He huffs in frustration and stomps towards the door. He hadn't heard Yoongi leave the apartment and knew he was here somewhere. Probably hauled up in one of the rooms doing God knows what.
The older had come in very early this morning and Hoseok assumed he'd crashed on the couch considering the ruffling that came from the living room. While Hoseok was hiding in the bedroom, hoping the door would muffle his tears
Would it really be such an inconvenience for Yoongi to answer the damn door? He yanked the door open with more force than he intended to use , 'brows pinched in in annoyance before they shot up into his hairline. A delivery man in brown uniform stood in front of him holding a big beautiful wrapped bouquet of flowers—irises he assumed, with so many more he couldn't name, held in one hand and a clipboard in the other.
