It was Ali’s 18th birthday. I had gotten to her house at 10 the night beforehand and as soon as I got there I wanted to see her. It had been six months since I last saw her.  Her parents knew I was coming and they must have seen me pull up because as soon as I climbed out of my car, they came out and took me inside. I left all of my stuff in my car.

“Where is she?” I asked after her parents had made sure I was settled in.

“She’s asleep; she went to bed about an hour ago. She had a busy day.” Her dad explained.

“Oh, thanks Mr. Gibson.” I said as he walked away. I knew her parents didn’t like me, and I was grateful to any sort of kindness they showed me. With that I turned the light off and went to sleep.

I woke up the next morning sweating my ass off.

“Shit it’s hot.” I mumbled to myself before rolling out of bed and stumbling through the house in an attempt to find a clock. Instead I found Ali’s parents in the kitchen having a coffee.

“Morning Jarred.” Ali’s dad smiled at me. Her mum just started at me. Neither of her parents liked me very much, but her dad was nice to me at least.

“Uh, Mr. Gibson, what’s the time?” I asked nervously, Ali’s mum still staring at me.

“Please, call me Dan, and yes, you can go see her,” He laughed, “I just sent the other two over to go wake her up.”

“Thanks Dan.” I smiled. Conrad and Kaitlin ran inside yelling at each other, leaving the door open.

“CONRAD COME AND CLOSE THIS DOOR! YOU WEREN’T RAISED IN A GOD DAMN TENT!” Ali’s mum yelled.

“It’s okay Mrs. Gibson, I’m going out to Ali now so I’ll close it on my way out.” I smiled, hoping she would warm up to me sooner or later. As promised, I left the house and closed the door behind me before going around to my car and getting my suitcase, wheeling it with me to Ali’s house. I knocked on Ali’s door but received no answer. I could hear water running and figured she was in the shower. The door opened silently which was relieving because I wanted to surprise her, not scare her. I left my suitcase sitting in the living room and went straight to her room, getting comfortable on her bed and turning the television on.

“Dianne?” I heard Ali call out softly from nowhere. Who’s Dianne?  I debated whether or not I should reply. I decided against it. It amazed me that her parents didn’t tell Ali that I was coming today, but I was also grateful that they kept their word. Her bedroom door swung open and I heard her suck in a massive breath to prevent her from screaming. I pretended I didn’t see her for a couple of seconds and then I looked at her.

“Happy Birthday!” I exclaimed, licking my lips as I took in her appearance. She was wearing nothing but a towel and her hair was dripping wet. The towel hugged her body in a way I approved of. I hadn’t seen her for six months and she still took my breath away. She looked different, I wasn’t sure what it was but something about her physical appearance had changed.

“What are you doing here you asshole!” she yelled running over to me the best she could while holding a towel and kissed me, hard. Her lips crashed into mine and relief washed over me. I had thought about this moment way too much on the 12 hour drive to her place.

“I’ll leave if you want.” I joked with a small chuckle once she pulled away, a smile plastered on my face.

“No, stay.” She mumbled, her face going bright red as she turned away from me and went to her wardrobe, swinging it open.  She dropped her towel from her body and to the ground before pulling out a pair of underwear and pulling them on. I couldn’t look away. Next she put on a bra that matched her underwear. Her curves looked a lot more defined since the last time I saw her. I still couldn’t figure out what was different about her. She just stood there staring at her clothes. I foxed whistled and in return I got given the finger. Finally Ali reached forward and pulled a black dress off a hanger and pulled it on over her head. She picked up the towel and wrapped her hair in it before applying deodorant.  Ali walked over to a dresser, sat down and started to pull out what I assumed was make up.
