PHAN:
Dan wasn’t one to let things get out of control. In fact, he thought of himself as a person who was the very opposite. He would always be nice to people even if they were rude. He would always hold back from responding to hate on the Internet. And not only was he the epitome of self-control, Dan was also a very punctual person. Okay, so his punctuality might be a little bit debatable, but he really was punctual. So what if he got ready to leave five minutes before he had to be out the door? Dan was very aware of the amount of time he had and equally confident in his ability to be on time.
Which is why, despite his incredible self-control and amazing punctuality, Dan found himself two hours late for his weekly YouNow. And not only did Dan find himself in a live web show with the amount of viewers quickly increasing, he found himself so incredibly drunk that he couldn’t quite remember how much he had had to drink. There had been shots, and wine, and another type of alcohol too, he was pretty sure.
At first Dan had not found himself drinking alone. Originally, his best friend and flatmate, Phil, had been drinking with him too. But with the first bottle of wine gone, split between the two of them, Phil had remembered an important meeting that he was supposed to be attending. Shoving on his shoes and coat, Phil had rushed out the door sporting a slight buzz. That had been about two hours ago.
“Hello Internet!” Dan waved. He then waved with his other hand also. The chat was starting to pick up now, with about two thousand people already present. He tilted the screen back and sat up slightly.
“How is everyone?” He asked, glancing at the responses as they rolled by. Mostly goods, bads, and placentas. He looked at the reflection of himself, quickly fixing his fringe before speaking again.
“Sorry that I’m late.” He apologized, switching to his twitter tab to tweet about being live.
“I’m doing a live livestream on YouNow right now live!” Dan read aloud as he composed his tweet. He then attached a link, not bothering to read that part aloud. Then he switched back to the livestream, deciding not to inform Tumblr or Facebook as it was too much work.
“Okay so how is everyone doing?” Dan asked again, forgetting momentarily that he had already asked.
“I mean, ask me some questions.” He said. A parade of questions asking him if he was drunk immediately filled the chat, which Dan rejected off hand.
“Are you drunk?” He reads out. “No!” Other questions soon come, and Dan answers them. About every twenty seconds he sees someone ask about Phil.
“Phil’s not even home guys, just enjoy me while you have me.” He jokes. Dan wishes that Phil really were here though. Most of the time Dan was a happy and fun drunk, but sometimes he was a sad, depressing one. Now was one of those days. Something about drinking just reminded him especially about the inevitability death and the general mortality of human kind. He was basically having an existential crisis live.
Usually when Dan was having a drunken existential crisis Phil would comfort him. Something about random animal facts and watching movies with Phil just seemed to cheer him up, yanking him right out of the dark whirlpool in his mind.
