Rafa's POV
I wake up to Stacey and what I think is her son.
"Hi your up late, this is my son, Alejandro"
"Hi" he looked up from his shoes.
"Hi kid"
"You don't mind if he's here right?"
"Of course not I like little kids, especially when the kid looks like my cute nurse " I flashed a smile at her.
"Rafael," she said sternly.
"I know I know don't call you cute"
"Ew you have cooties" her son taunted.
"No he doesn't stop that," It made me laugh. "And you sir, you should've been up way before I got here what's your excuse"
"Uh nothing really"
"Mmhmm well go shower you smell"
"Ew stinky man," her son covered his nose.
"Hahaha" I got up and went to shower.
"Mama is dat, my daddy" I smiled a little.
"Alejandro I've told you about that question" she sternly said. I finished my shower and went out to sit on my bed. "Blood check" she came over with the needle and took some blood"
"You know you can tell him I'm his dad"
"None of that concerns you"
"Look I know you don't want to talk about it but he needs to know "
"My business is none of yours" she snapped.
"Sorry"
She left to take the sample to whoever, her son sat in the chair and looked around. "Hi buddy"
He waved.
"How old are you?"
He held up two fingers.
"Mommy always like that?"
He nodded. "You know instead of squeezing my kid for information about me why don't you just ask me"
"You told me not to," I said as she walked in.
"It's personal and I'd like it if you didn't squeeze him for things about me, he's only two"
"They were harmless questions"
"I don't care don't ask my son about me"
"You know what I think you need a walk"
"No, I'm not some druggie who needs to walk when they get mad" my heart hurt.
"What" tears brimmed my eyes.
"Nothing I'm fine I don't need some walk to calm me down"
"Yeah okay please leave"
"I'm your nurse you can't tell me to leave"
"Well yeah I can please leave I'm asking nicely"
"Rafael I'm not leaving"
"PLEASE leave "a tear fell and Alejandro shook. "I'm sorry but please leave"
She got up and took his hand. "No mama I stay"
"Alejandro lets go now"
"Mama I wan stay"
"If he wants to then he can I have coloring books for him. I had them when I first got here to keep me busy"
"Do you want to stay" she looked down at him. He nodded quickly, she let go of his hand and he ran straight to me. "I'll be back before I leave"
"Otay mama" he smiled and got in bed with me. She left to go tend to her other patients.
We played and talked, well I talked, we went for walks and played some more.
--
Hours later she came back and he was already asleep under the covers next to me.
"Hi"she whispered once she noticed he was asleep.
"Hi. Little guy had fun today"
"Your really good with kids" she smiled and sat on his bed.
"Yeah. Hey earlier today were you okay"
She sighed. "No his dad wants custody of him and my lawyer told me its a good chance he'll get him" she teared up.
"Hey come here" I pulled her into a hug and she cried.
"He's my life and it I lose him I don't know what I'll do"
"I get it I do, he's worth fighting for" she continued to cry. "Wait did he sign the birth certificate?"
"No I told you the ass left the room once I pushed him out"
"Then have someone sign it"
"Who"
".......Me?"
"Rafael your my patient"
"Can we not use that word I'm basically clean"
"Eh not yet"
"Okay but still I can't do that"
"Why we can say I left and you thoguth he was the father. Whens his birthday"
"July 5th"
"Perfect I got put in here in September"
"I don't know Rafael"
"They wont know"
"It seems too risky"
"I'm all about risks" I held her hand looking at her.
"Your a crazy man Casal"
"Thank you"
"He seems comfortable here is it okay if he stays the night"
"Sure me and him are buddies now"
"Thank you I need a night to myself" she kissed my cheek and left. I held my cheek and smiled.
"Yeah no problem"
