Madam Pomfrey let Harry out of the medic's tent soon after his friends had left, and Harry trudged up toward the castle, even during the short walk he ran into people. Predictably, Zachariah Smith gave him a highly disgusted look, and Luna Lovegood smiled at him dreamily, and gave his hand a comforting squeeze.

Less predictable, was Blaise Zabini, who glared daggers at him, turned and marched away haughtily only turning back when he reached the door, to give Harry another look of pure fury and loathing. Zabini hadn't really paid any attention to Harry in the past, and he hadn't really expected the indifferent Slytherin to change so drastically.

Harry was eager to get back to his dormitory and groaned as he opened the portrait hole to a raging party. He couldn't do it. He just couldn't.

People spotted him as soon as he entered the room and they fell on him, slapping on the back, hugging him, lifting him into the air on their shoulders. The shoved butterbeers and sweets on him, they asked him question after question. Harry finally managed to slip up to the dormitory when the Weasley twins came bursting into the room with more food and drink.

Up in the dormitory, Harry grabbed his Invisibility Cloak, and snuck back down the stairs. They would go looking for him soon, and he couldn't fall asleep with all the noise they were making anyway. Weaving in between people, and skirting around the edges of the packed common room, he finally reached the door and pushed it open, stepping gratefully into the fortunately empty corridor.

Once he had got an acceptable distance from his partying house mates, Harry came to a stop, panting. He wasn't really sure where he wanted to go. All he knew was that he needed to sleep. He set off down the corridor without a plan, still keen to get away from the noise from the party.

When he stopped walking, he found himself in front of an unfamiliar door. Reaching out a hand, he grasped the handle and pulled open the door.

The door opened into a nice sized room. Despite its large size, it was cozy. The room was square, but the corners were rounded. The ceiling was low, and the room was lit with a warm, sunny light. Harry couldn't see where it was coming from. There were a couple small round windows, where dusty beams of real sunlight spilled into the room, and across the eight wooden beds around the walls. It was strange that there were windows, as the room was in the middle of the castle, but this was Hogwarts, so Harry didn't question it. Instead he pulled off his invisibility cloak, and flopped onto a bed.

It was only from his new position on the bad, that Harry noticed he was not the only person in the room.

Standing by a larger window on the opposite wall from the door, was a boy. He had sandy hair and was wearing yellow and black robes. He turned at the sound of Harry flopping onto the bright patchwork spread of the wooden bedstead.

Cedric Diggory stared down at the Gryffindor in surprise and then grinned.

"Harry! However did you get here?"

"Uh, hi," said Harry awkwardly. "I'm sorry, I'll go!"

Cedric snorted.

"You don't have to go. I reckon you're her for the same reason that I am, but the fact that you're here is interesting..."

Cedric looked Harry over, looking mildly interested.

"Um, where is here?" Harry asked, lost as to what Cedric was talking about.

"Hufflepuff Dormitory, of course," he said. "I didn't know you knew about it."

"About what?" Harry demanded. "Isn't your common room entrance down by the kitchens?"

"Common room...?" Cedric frowned. "Oh!" he suddenly exclaimed.

"Harry, did you mean to come here tonight?"

Harry looked at Cedric, baffled. "No, I just found this door."

"Oh!" Cedric cried again. "Harry, let me show you, the Room of Requirement!"

Cedric gave Harry a deep bow, and suddenly the low ceiling of the room exploded, and confetti rained from the sky. Harry stared.

"What's the Room of Requirement?"

Cedric explained how you could call the room in a certain stretch of corridor, and how it would take the shape of whatever room you wanted.

"So," the Hufflepuff concluded, "Here's my dorm, because I wanted to get some rest away from the party. It was impossible to get out."

"I'm here for the same reason, I guess," Harry admitted. "I have an Invisibility Cloak, so it wasn't too hard."

"You have an Invisibility Cloak?"

Harry passed it over to Cedric, who gave a low whistle when he saw it.

"Wow," he said appreciatively. "That's some cloak! Does it really..?" he trailed off, swinging the cloak over his shoulders and looking around. As he turned, a mirror appeared, and he scanned its contents with rapt attention. "It's like I'm not there!"

Harry grinned at where he thought Cedric was, even though he couldn't see him. Seconds later, with a swish of cloth, Cedric took off the garment, and tossed it at Harry, who caught it.

"Seeker reflexes," Cedric smiled. "Anyway, now that you're here, take any bed. Except that one," He gestured at one under one of the small, round windows, "That one's mine."

Cedric walked past his bed and through a door that Harry assumed led to a bathroom. Harry sat for a bit, but he really didn't have a better option. Making up his mind, he tucked his Invisibility Cloak under the bed he'd flopped down upon. Focusing like Cedric had told him to (and feeling very foolish), he stared at a blank wall and tried to wish a second bathroom into existence.

Despite his concerns, when he opened his eyes, there was indeed a door in front of him, and upon entering he confirmed it was a bathroom. It was a strange combination of the bathroom in his own dormitory, and the one belonging to the prefects, that he had visited that year for the Triwizard Tournament.

When Harry came out of the bathroom, he found a pair of PJs on the food of his bed. He looked over at Cedric, who was already in a pair himself.

"Did you put these here?"

Cedric shook his head. "No, the room sometimes gives you things even when you don't ask specifically."

"Cool," Harry smiled, and slipped into the pajamas. They were warm and cozy and fit him perfectly. Harry then peeled back the quilt on his bed and slipped in.

He was already settled in before he realized the sun still shining through the windows was going to make sleeping quite impossible.

"The windows.." Harry began, but before he'd even finished, the room dimmed to almost pitch black.

Cedric laughed from over where he had just climbed into his own bed. "One of the great things about the room of requirement!"

Harry smiled, and rolled over in the soft, feathery bed. It was comfy and snug and Harry drifted off to sleep almost immediately.

As soon as Harry closed his eyes, he was plunked into a dark room with wood paneled walls. He stood, twirling a wand, waiting. He then brought his wand up to his face, still spinning it idly between his fingers; fingers that were long, and thin and milky white.
