Matthews POV)
He flew around everywhere searching for her. All he could remember was the look she had given him right before taking off. Her eyes were nothing but pain and he knew she was probably alone and scared and wondering where the hell she was. He flew in between the trees as quickly as he could but because the trees were close together it was harder to weave between them. Finally after nightfall he thought he'd seen her running ahead of him but at the speed he was flying it was hard to stop where he was so he flew right by her and she didn't seem to notice. So he flew above the tree line and listened for several moments and suddenly heard a sound like the root of a tree being hit and so he flew down below again. In the darkness of the forest he'd never find her at that rate so he folded up his wings and started walking in the direction she'd ran. A few hours later he finally came across her sleeping body on the forest floor.

He wrapped her up in his wind breaker and lifted her into his arms. She was peaceful but she had a long tear in her leg and he found the root from a tree that she'd tripped over. Slower than the first time he flew back to Florida and to her home. Once on the back porch he reached for the hidden key under the first step for the back door. Inside he laid her on the couch and carefully cleaned her wound. Then he wrapped it, carried her up to her room and put her softly in her bed. He stayed awake all night on watch against the wall across from her bedroom door that stayed open all night so she didn't leave his sight.

Several hours before the sun came up she woke up and at the same time he was finding himself dozing off. She sat up in bed and saw him, dirtied and bloodied from her leg. She just stared at him, his eyes half open, while he watched her. He wanted so much to join her in the bed and fall asleep but he wouldn't without her permission first.

All he could see was the light coming out from her bedroom door when he'd stepped out of the bathroom and he had to use the wall to steady himself he was so tired. To the doorway and then her bed and the moment his head hit the pillow he was out like a light.

(Isabels POV)
It was just like she was in California again, when they were little kids. She'd stay up late while he slept and then she'd sleep half the day away and wake up to lunch that Matthew had made for her. She really did love him and she'd always known it but could she truthfully admit it to him, especially with only two months till her birthday. He lay there still as a statue but somehow asleep and when she'd run her fingers lightly through his hair he seemed to relax a slight bit. She ran her fingers down the back of his shirt in hopes that maybe she could feel his wings again, They looked big, hard and delicate but really they were soft and strong. Sometimes she wondered if he really was hers to keep and at one point she'd convinced herself that he was but in truth she knew it was just a lie and she wanted to know if he still wonders if she'll ever be his to keep. She was going to die in two months and for the first time she was stuck on a rock and she wasn't sure if she should continue life normally or create a bucket list and finish it in two months. Eventually some time before three in the morning she'd fallen back to sleep for the night.

A little after ten she rose from bed and showered like any normal day. When she checked the clock on her phone she realized that she'd overslept for school and started to freak out. Once changed she called Matthew but he didn't answer and when she was just getting ready to walk out the door she noticed a note on the door.

Bell,

Don't freak out and rush to school. I tried to wake you this morning but you wouldn't budge so I called you in sick with the stomach flu and then left for school. Stay home I mean it. See ya later.

Matt

When she flipped it over it read: P.S. Your friend called the house and left a message telling you that she was coming over to see you after school. Something about you haven't answered any of her phone calls and she'd semi-angry. I saved it on the phone if you wanna listen to it. Love you!

So she stripped back down to her pajamas and went right back to sleep. Her life had been turned upside down in a matter of a weekend and she'd decided she deserved at least half a day to herself, recuperation and all.
