It took but two days/ 48 hours/ 2880 minutes before my lucky self made the acquaintance of the boy again. This time I had a substantial amount of money ($49. 35) with me as I needed to stock up the fridge. Finn was with me and was excitable but not destructive and managed to stay calm throughout my search of groceries.

There was probably no reason to shop for groceries at a freaking convenience store when I had two Walmarts and a Target within half an hour driving distance, except for the fact that I wanted to test my luck to see if I would meet him again. And, since I'd calculated that he probably worked the morning shift (6: 30 a.m. - 11: 25 a.m. as my friend who was a cashier at the store for a good six weeks before he quit for a job at Target instead informed me. He didn't get the job.) I went there around 10: 50 a.m. straight after breakfast at McDonald's.

And so he was there in all his good-looking glory, looking at me amusedly as I averted his eyes, shoving (I mean it lightheartedly because squashed things are never good) milk cartons, bread, butter and other foods the -actually rather well-stocked- 7-11 had to give.

Fifteen minutes and I was at the counter with my groceries, not smiling one bit as he scanned the barcodes on everything. I was suspecting the end amount would rack up to a good $20 when he looked up and stared at me. I frowned slightly and snapped my fingers in front of his face, feeling much more confident today in concealer, eyeliner, mascara and an unblindingly colorblind outfit (a grey tank top with a cat superimposed on it that reached the knees of my mint green skinnies, plus black hightops which were the only Converse I owned and a sizable amount of accessories as I liked it). I also got my ombre hair back yesterday, praise the Lord.

He looked me in the eye and said something I didn't fully comprehend. "Colton Kaynes. "

"What?" I asked, confused. He looked down at the currently-scanned loaf of white bread while saying again, "My name. Colton Kaynes. " I finally understood and replied with a, "And I'm Avril Newman."

Colton emptied all the things of the belt and into several plastic bags. "That will be $27.30, Miss Avril. " he said as I fished $30 out of my purse and handed it to him, letting our hands touch this time, as he seemed to think over something. He worded it out after handing me my change. "Your name is Avril as in Avril Lavinge and Newman as in John Newman?" I nodded. How could you not help but admire a boy who compared your name to singers? Downright adorable.

"How do you know I'm a Miss and not a married woman with two kids?" I gestured to Finn, who was now at my feet and literally begging me with his eyes to get him the Snickers bar he was staring at. I subconsciously picked it out of the shelf and set in on the counter.

Colton rolled his eyes as the Snickers bar added another 99 cents to the total sum. "I heard him call you 'Sis' at least twice and also, you're way too young-looking and pretty to be one." My breath hitched in my throat as I let his sweet compliment wash over me in waves. I smiled widely and whispered a "Thanks," to him as I gathered the bags and was about to leave when he called after me.

My heart still beating quickly, I turned around. "Yeah?" I forced myself to say clearly. He rubbed the back of his head, looking slightly sheepish. "My, um, my shift ends in ten, and I was hoping maybe you could give me a ride?" I smiled a bit before saying, "Okay."

His apartment, I learned, was somewhere near his school, Tierwall High. This made me somewhat disappointed as he didn't go to the same school as me. That was also when I realized his house was but a five minute drive from mine.

Joy, and not in a sarcastic way.

I pulled up in front of the residence after an extremely short journey filled with small talk and Finn's rambling about why the baby packs of Play-Doh were softer and better than the standard ones. Colton was still smiling at the entertaining argument about why the show Adventure Time was so much better than Regular Show before he turned around to face me.

"Thanks, Avril." He said sincerely. I accidentally looked him straight in the eye and immediately looked back down."You're welcome, Colton." I said, raising my eyebrows teasingly. He smirked once before getting off the car. And through the open window, he then proceeded to ask if we could do the same next week.
