"Well then Emile, let's go." He said, as he reached for my hand. I took it. We walked to his car in comfortable silence. I seemed very out of place. The man looked very rich, and I looked like I've been living in a dumpster my entire life. My clothes were ripped, my brown hair was down to my shoulder and looked like it was black. I had two entirely different shoes on and I had cuts and bruises all over my body.

His car wasn't big, but not small either. I read about this car in the newspapers once, it's called a Dodge caravan and it was fully white. "Well let's get in." Ge said as he opened the door for me. The seat he was gesturing had a gray car seat in it. It even had a tray. I thought we meant the middle seat. I walked to the car and tried to climb in, but he stopped me.

"Hear let me help you in." He said, and lifted me up. And placed me into the car seat. I was very confused. He strapped me in all the way And put my bag on the ground but took bruce out and placed him in my arms. I looked like a two year old.

"Don't worry, it's just safety protocol." He said and hopped in the front seat. He drove off and we left the park, and the town, and the city. 'This orphanage must be in the middle of nowhere or something.' I thought, as all the buildings disappeared and all that was left were trees, cars, and the road. Sometime during the ride I fell asleep. It was one of the best naps I took since forever.

When I woke up it was dark, it looked like I had slept for a couple hours. Where was this dang orphanage? My question was answered when I looked out the window. Right down the road, was a mansion. It looked like a castle. The lights were on in the house, but one a couple of them went out. 'Those must be bedrooms' I thought.

In a couple minutes we made it to the house. He pulled up in the driveway. There were many other different cars too.

"Now, before we go inside, I'd like you to pick a number from zero to ten. Each one is different and special in its own unique way and it will effect your stay here." The Man told me.

"Um okay." I said "How about zero?"

"Ah! A very good choice, a good choice indeed! Well let's get you out of that car seat and go inside." He said. He unbuckled me and took me out of the car seat and onto the brick pavement. He gave me my bag and bear separately. I put the bag on and held bruce in my arm. He took me hand and we walked inside.

There weren't any kids around, but there were toys and crayons  occasionally scattered around. I saw staff members walk by and smile at us. While we were walking, I saw a boy with a sponge cleaning up crayon drawings on the wall. He was about the same size as me, but here's the strange part. He was wearing a onesie, but not like a regular onesie, a baby onesie, and there was something puffy underneath it. He had fluffy white footsies and a pacifier in his mouth. He also had a necklace with a bell on it, It was a mini version of the bells you'd see in towers. When he saw me he looked shocked and quickly went back to what he was doing, trying not to look at us. We hurried past him.

"Emile, I'm gonna take you to our nurse. She's gonna patch you up and take you to my office so we can arrange things. Okay?"

"Okay." I replied. I was a bit confused as to what was going on in here, but decided to roll with it. At least I'm not sleeping in the shed. He took me up the stars and to the nurses office. The nurses office was surprising small for an orphanage. Children's drawings littered the wall and the wall was lined with hospital beds that were raised extra high.

"Well hello there!" A voice said. From behind the curtain was the nurse. She had long blonde hair, was tall, and a blue nurses outfit.

"Here's Elizabeth, Shes our nurse and she's gonna take care of you for a little bit." The man said.

"Nice to meet you, you can call me Eliza." She said, holding out her hand. "Nice to meet you too, my name is Emile." I said, shaking her hand.

"Well I'll leave you to be, I'll be in my office. I'll also be taking your bag." Said the man as he grabbed my backpack, and just like that, he was gone.

"Well let's clean you up." She said, and ruffled by hair "we'll go sit on the examine table, and I'll go get some stuff."

I went over to the table and hopped up. I placed bruce right next to me and looked around the room. I looked across the room and there was a jug of strange liquid. It looked like regular water but it wasn't clear, it was blue. Next to it was a cabinet. The cabinet was open and had little circle things on them. They looked like collars and were connected to the jug.

The nurse was holding a first aid kit and went over to the cabinet, took one of the collars, and went over to me.

"Okay Emile, I'm gonna need you to strip down to your underwear." Eliza said, with a smile.

"What why?" I said.

"I need to see all the wounds you have, and I'm gonna send you into the shower soon." She answered. So I did what she said. I took off my dirty shirts, ripped t shirt, and small sneakers.

"The man always asks newcomers to choose a number. What number did you pick? Just a bit curious." She asked.

I thought it was kinda weird. "Oh I picked zero" I said

"Zero? That's a really good number!" She said, smiling. I smiled back.

She took them away and cleaned up all the cuts, bruises, and bug bites I've gotten over the years. She then put something on my ankle. It was one of the collars, or ankle bracelet I guess.

"It's a tracking device so you don't get lost" Eliza said. I nodded.

She sent me to the bathroom to shower. It was the first warm shower I had in a while. Usually, I'd wash myself with a garden hose. I spent a good 10 minutes just standing under the water before actually cleaning myself. When I was finished, the bottom of the tub was covered in dirt and sand.

Eliza had left clothes for me while I was in the a shower. It was white underwear, a large white T-shirt, and white socks. No more no less. I didn't wanna seem entitled. The t shirt draped over me like a nightgown.

I walked out and was greeted her. "The man said I need to go to his office" I told her, as I looked down at the ground. I noticed something on the anklet. There was a tiny blinking red light on the anklet.

Suddenly something came over my head. It was a necklace with a bell on it. It was a very tiny one. "It's a gift! I give it to all the people who pick zero. Well anyways, let's go see the man."

Me and nurse left the nurses office and into the hallways.
