"I thought you were dead in an ally somewhere, child! Where were ya?" Ms.Frannie yelled as I walked into work. Ms.Frannies book shop to be exact.
"You're never late you had me worried girl." She said going on, giving me a mean glare.
"Sorry Ms.Frannie, I got into a little incident at Starbuck" I apologized.
"That nasty looking, skinny little blonde again, child I told you if she was disrespecting you to call me, I'll set her ass straight" Ms.Frannie said threatingly pushing her thick black frames higher up her pale face. For a little old white lady Ms.Frannie was sassy.
"No, this guy bumped into me and spilled some of his drink on me, and gave me one of his shirts" I explained. Ms.Frannie gave me a stern look.
"So this man just happened. To have a extra shirt on him or somethin" she in a sarcastic tone. The one I get before she's about to tell me off.
"No we went to his house and get it" I muttered knowing I was about to hear her mouth.
"You Went with a strange man to his house, to get a shirt because he spilled his drink on you, are you serious. What if that was a plan to rape your something, girl are you crazy?. Is your head empty or something, where's ya brain at" she yelled at me. I knew I deserved it.
"Your right Ms.Frannie, I'm sorry, it was a foolish mistake." I apologized.
"Damn right it was, now was he cute?" She asked with a slight smirk on her face.
"Ms.Frannie you dont even know, this man was drop dead gorgeous. Pretty brown eyes, nice brown complexion, freckles, tall neucr build. Talk about perfection." I gushed, I hadn't realized how attractive I thought he was till now.
"Sounds like a real looker, now get to work child... had me all worried and what not. I can't stand you." She muttered.
"I love you too Ms.Frannie" I said in a jokingly matter. I really did love Ms.Frannie she was like the mom/grandma that I never had. I was given up for adoption as a baby, and until I was 16 I was being tossed from foster home to foster home, until Ms.Frannie came across me, she took me in and gave me a well paying job at her book store and I was here ever since.
I walked behind the register and got ready to face the costumers that would soon come in. But my mind kept drifting off to Chris, how gorgeous he was, and how he seemed as if he genuinely wanted to help me. But it doesn't matter now, he doesnt want me to return the shirt so there's no reason to ever see him again.
Later that evening.
I was sweeping the floor, when Ms.Frannie asked me to close up. She told me she had a bingo session. I didn't mind. Closing time was at 8, and since it was early spring it was getting dark later.
I was just about to flip the sign to the closing side, when I see a large figure come up to the glass door. The face was very familiar, but I couldn't put a name to it.
"Hey, please let me in, it'll only take me 5 minutes I know what I'm looking for." A voice came from the large figure. I decided to do a good deed and let the figure in, but opening the door I put the voice and the face together... it was chris, what a coincidence.
