The sunset is a mixture of baby blues, fiery orange, and blush pink. The beach is empty except a lone figure who sits where the tide just meets the sand. Persephone dips her feet into the water while leaning her head back to soak up the sun's fading rays. She wraps her arms around herself as the night chills the air. Overhead the fluffy white clouds have become dark gray and nearly black. A clash of thunder rumbles in the distance as lightning streaks across the sky.
"Hmm," Persephone mumbles to herself, "looks like we're in for a storm." She stands and makes her way back into the spacious beach house.
Aphrodite and Poseidon sit in the spacious kitchen of the beach house. Aphrodite notices as Persephone slips inside but doesn't call out to her when she seems lost in her thoughts. She keeps taking small glances as Persephone takes small and quiet steps into the other room. Poor woman can't even imagine what she's going through.
Aphrodite sits back and watches as Zeus storms about the large kitchen with a cell phone pressed close to his ear. The longer the call goes on, the louder Zeus' voice rises.
"No! No, no, no, listen to me. I'm telling you everything is fine. I've worked everything out; there's no way I'll be caught at this point." Zeus argues, pausing momentarily before continuing on, "Will, you trust me, woman? I'll be back by tomorrow everything will be settled then," he states before hanging up the phone. He walks over to them and throws an arm over Aphrodite's shoulders that causes her to squirm in the opposite direction.
"Problems?" Poseidon asks as he leans against the table with concern glinting in his eyes as he eyes Zeus' hold on Aphrodite.
"Nothing for you to worry about, just my lawyer and I having a slight disagreement, but it's fine." Aphrodite heaves a sigh of relief as Zeus gets off her and walks behind Poseidon to start rumbling around the cabinets, and her eyes widen as he pulls out several bottles of alcohol. "Here," Zeus slams the bottles on the table, "pass these around. We may be stuck here with the storm rolling in, but I don't wanna hear anybody whining all night."
Zeus makes the shoo motion with his hands at Aphrodite, and she stifles the urge to scoff at his misogyny. Instead, she grabs the bottles and strides out of the kitchen but grins as Poseidon vacates his seat to join her.
"C'mon, let's get these idiots drunk," Poseidon teases, causing her to giggle.
It doesn't take long for Aphrodite, Persephone, and Hermes to be laughing while taking shot after shot of whatever is close and handy. Aphrodite had tried for hours to get Poseidon to join in on the drinking, but he just sat in an armchair and stare pensively into the lit fireplace. Aphrodite throws her head back with laughter and almost lands on the floor as she's thrown off balance.
