"What the hell."

I drove myself to work today, parking in the spot I usually parked. "Hey girl." Penelope smiled when I walked in. "We got you your first case." She winked. "Round table in 10."

Yes! I mentally screamed. I finally get a chance to prove myself to the team.

Rossi walks over to me. "So I hear you've got you're first case." "Yes I'm excited." I produce a shy smile because I'm still a little nervous around everyone. He nods. "Hey um so I also noticed Reid hasn't introduced himself yet."

Damn it he noticed.

Of coarse he did Alyssa, he's a profiler.

I didn't respond but I looked down.

"Anyways," He glances at Spencer who was currently flipping through the pages of an unknown book. "I, and well, the whole team, has noticed that you and him both avoid each other." My palms were starting to sweat and I rubbed them on my pants. He noticed this, obviously, and raised an eyebrow.

God I just made it worse, now he's suspicious.

I stuttered, "Oh um well.." bitch think fast  "We already introduced ourselves... um you know, I saw him in the parking lot- and um, yeah we talked."

I'm honestly disappointed that was the best I could do.

"You did?" He clearly did not believe me.

I frowned. "Ugh fine it's complicated but I don't really want to talk about it." I fumbled with my fingers. He looked a little let down but he nodded anyways. I quickly walked over to my desk before Rossi could ask any more.

Well um that's news, the whole team is on to us already. I screwed up.  I knew that they would figure out something was up eventually but damn not this fast. I gathered all of my things so I could prepare for my first case, whatever it may be. It might have been something I could use to distract me from this drama except for the fact that Spencer would be solving the case with me. The one problem. I sighed.

It was time to meet at the round table now... oh god Spencer just walked into it.

My palms started sweating and I wiped them on my pants again. It just must be a habit. I grunted. He obviously avoided eye contact with me. Luckily, no one noticed. "Garcia strutted into the room with a pile of files she quickly handed out. Everyone opened up and skimmed the files as Garcia cleared her throat and prepared to give us the case.

"Saddle up everyone because we're going to Texas! This case is not the best by the way." She clicked the remote and up showed a couple images of dead women. "These are the most recent victims in a string of murders happening in El Paso. The women were found shoved inside dumpsters wearing only underwear. The thing is, they were decapitated." She frowned. Pictures of the women's ID showed on the screen.

I mentally puked. "They all look very similar, dirty blonde hair, green eyes, freckles." JJ observed. "They could be surrogates." Morgan suggested. "It's our job to find out for what." Rossi added. "It says here the COD is strangulation?" Prentiss asked. Garcia nodded. The pictures showed bruising along the neck's of the victims. "He wants to feel the life leave their bodies. That's maybe why they look similar, because he is pretending it is someone he loathes and wants revenge on." I implied, Everyone nodded in agreement. "Whoever did this must be strong to be able to lift people into dumpsters." Morgan shrugged.

"We can discuss the case on the way to El Paso, for now get ready. Wheels up in 10." Hotch signaled for us to leave the room. I was on my way to the bathroom when someone tapped me on the shoulder.

I turned to see it was Spencer. "What the hell." He muttered. I hadn't known him to cuss like that. "What." I breathed. "I thought we agreed to forget about each other." I watched his Adam's Apple bob as he swallowed after speaking, his jawline so bold and perfect. "I got an opportunity of a lifetime, this," I pointed towards the ground. "this is what I wanted. I can't turn down something like this just because someone from my my past works here."

But he wasn't just someone from my past and we both knew it. He looked me up and down, his eyes lingered on my breasts for just a split second. He turned on his heels abruptly and walked away. I exhaled in relief. I scanned the room and saw Rossi had been watching us in he distance like some creepy old stalker.

Shit

I hope he hadn't heard anything, although from his distance I don't think he could have. Realization hit me like a slap in the face. There is more to a conversation then just words though. He read our body language.

He's on to us.

***********

The plane ride was only about 2 and a half hours. During our time, we ate microwave popcorn and debriefed the case. We were given hotels to stay at in El Paso, all of our rooms were only a few doors apart. When we arrived, we first went to the sheriff's office, where he explained the case in further detail. "My daughter knew one of the victims." He said sadly. "I hope you catch the son of a bitch who did this." "We will." Prentiss nodded.

Since it was already late when we came, everyone agreed on starting investigating early in the morning, and we should go to bed early to get good sleep.

Yeah right.

When have I ever gotten good sleep since like, middle school? I would stay up late staring at pictures of hot boys on Instagram and binge my favorite tv shows. That's really when I started not being able to sleep well. I could only do sleep well when Spencer was by me, but of coarse that doesn't matter anymore.

I debated whether I should watch whatever was playing on the hotel's tv, or read a book, but I settled with the book option because I hadn't really read for fun in a while.

*******

It was around midnight when I heard the knock on my door.

Who the hell would come over this late at night? I wondered. Maybe it could be room service, they forgot to bring dinner I guess. I was so caught up with reading I hadn't even noticed how starved I was.

I climbed out of bed and set the book on the table, folding the page I was on before I set it down. I cracked the door open to see who it was, and my body felt heavy, like metal, once I was met by the familiar brown eyes my stomach flipped and turned for.

AN: I'm really sorry guys for that SUPER slow update, I almost forgot I was writing the book, plus I was too lazy. I made this chapter a bit longer than they normally are, just to kinda help make up for the long silence. I just want to let you know that recently, people have been voting and adding my book to their reading list, which is surprising to me, because it's never happened. (But honestly my other book sucked so I discontinued writing it.) Anyways, honestly, these kind of things are motivating me to write more chapters, and to update faster. So... yeah. I promise there will be more updates coming very soon. (And yes, the smut chapters will also creep in, if you want to read them lol.) Im hoping to make another update on Wednesday, at around midnight MST.
