Y/N pov

I woke up in a foreign place. It wasn't like my room in the space station who was completely white with only a bed. It took me a second to realize that this was my new room in the birdcage. There was a medium-sized bed alongside a desk and wardrobe. I had gotten my own room since there weren't any more rooms with more than one bed. I got dressed in my old uniform and put on my jacket which reached down a little under my waist. I left my room and headed down for breakfast. On my way down I ruffled my hair to hide my horns and was about to put on the inhibitor ring as I turned the corner however I bumped into Hiro.

"Oh hi Hiro, Sorry I wasn't looking where I was going," I said as I quickly hid my tails under my jacket

"It's fine Y/N. Are you heading down to the others?" He asked

"ehh yeah, I was thinking about it," I said nervously while fumbling with the inhibitor ring

"Well let's go then," He said as he walked away and I followed still working on the ring

It was hard attaching the ring while trying to seem as normal as possible.

"Come on you piece of shit" I mumbled as it finally clicked in place

We reached the dining hall soon after. Everyone else was already there along with two extra seats at the boy's table. Hiro immediately took his seat and signaled for me to sit down in the empty one to his right. Food was already placed by my seat so I sat down. Breakfast consisted of a steak, mashed potatoes, and some bread. Hiro and Goro were having a conversation about their graduation so I just sat and listened. Since I have enhanced hearing I could hear what the girls were whispering about. I kind of listened until I hear my name and then they had my full attention.

"Why do you think he's here," The girl named Miku asked

"No idea, he seems rather nice" Another girl named Kokoro answered

"I don't trust him," The girl named Naomi said

"From what I've heard, He's a MONSTER," Ichigo said

I audibly dropped my fork causing everyone to look at me. Without saying anything I got up and walked over to her. I bent down so that I was eye level with her before quickly licking her cheek. She jumped as I did this before turning questionably towards me.

"At least you didn't lie," I said in a monotone voice as I left. Everyone looked after me as I left and disappeared into the forest

I walked around on the outskirts of the birdcage. Deep down I knew that they wouldn't accept me. No one ever did, not even the nines. I always felt lonely. Since I knew I was outside the field of view from the house I let out my tails. Breathing a sigh of relief as they touched the soft grass. Keeping them hidden wasn't the most comfortable thing ever.

After walking for some time I stumbled upon a lake. The lake was pretty big, with some vegetation here and there. The scenery was very beautiful. In the distance I noticed two birds flying close to each other.

"Maybe ill stay here for a while," I said to myself

My train of thought slowly dissipated as I noticed some clothes on a nearby branch. The two birds from earlier chirp pulling my attention out to the lake again. As I faced the lake I noticed a silhouette of someone surface out in the lake. As they turned around I noticed that it was a girl. Suddenly she dove down again.
