A Year (Eternity series)

3. Hazel eyes

I once had this dream where I was laying down on a field of grass. I was just staring up at the blue sky and thinking to myself, "I love him".

 Who? I didn't know but then I turned my head to the left and there he was. I remember hazel eyes, brown messy hair and his smile. His smile was one of those contagious smiles. It reminded me of rain and calm. 

He smiled at me and I felt at home.

I lived in a small town called Creek Hill. The town was small enough that everyone knew everyone. Living in a small town like ours meant that there was one public school, Creek Hill high school.

 Jack parked the car at our schools parking lot. The three of us stood by the parking lot and just stared at our school. Everyone we know was going in and out of the school. 

"You guys ready for senior year?" jack asked.

 Me and lily turned to him "Hell, yeah," she yelled.

 I just shrugged "I don't know why you guys are so hyped about senior year. It going to be like every other year," I said. As soon as I said it, I regretted it, because Lily was looking at me as if a killed her puppy, Kudos.

 "I know you are not so hyped about this year, but I have a feeling. This year is going to be that one year that changes our lives forever." I and Jack burst out laughing and Lily puffed and smacked both of our heads.

 "Sorry Lil, we don't mean to shit on your parade but it seems to me this year is going to be the same as every other year. Well, except graduation. Can't wait to leave this place" jack remarks and I nod along. 

Jack was right I felt the same way. This year was going to be chill. "You guys just wait and see," Lily said and we walked to the school.

When we were just about to enter, Jared comes running towards us. "Hey guys," he smiles at Lily. 

Lily looks at him confused "Sorry do I know you?" Lily asked him and I burst out laughing "Lil, its Jared," I tell her. Both Jack and Lily gaped at him. Jared was this skinny boy that had braces last year. Now he looked smoking hot.

 "Jared, where the hell did all this muscle come from?" I ask. He looked almost giddy to tell us 

"worked out over the summer with my cousin," he says flexing his muscle and I can see Lily break a sweat next to me. Lily had a thing for muscles. "Looking good man" Jack comments. 

"Thanks. Was actually thinking about joining the football team," Jared says and Jacks face lights up. "Man I can help you with that." Jack was the captain of the football team. We say bye to Jack and Jared but I don't think they heard us over their chitchat about football. Lily squeals next to me, "This year is already great." I laugh at her "you see one muscled guy and you have determined your entire year." Lily gives me a duh look "have you seen that boys muscles?" I laugh again.

We get our schedules and look for our lockers. As luck would have it we were next to each other. The entire hall way was filled with enthused people. Some were setting out tables for club registrations. The cheer leading squad was out by the front giving out flyers of the year's activity and the football team was standing by the lockers just joking around. There was this sense of belonging in our school and I was living for it. Normally, I would spend most of the year locked up in the library but not this year. This year I am going to enjoy everything this school has to offer.

My moment of bliss happiness was destroyed when Lily growled. Yes, you heard that right. Lily growled next to me and there was only one person in this entire school that can make Lily growl and that person just passed by us with her minions following.

 "Hey, Ana" I say giving her a little wave. She just looked at me like I was a gum stuck to her expensive shoes. Ana William was the cheerleader\student president\ queen bee. Our school wasn't the type of school to have hierarchies or cliques but we all knew who was more popular or who was known more, Achieved more, so she was the queen bee. Well Ana hated me and Lily ever since fresh man year. Why you asked? Because Jack used to date her back in fresh man year and in her head Lily and I are the reason he broke up with her.

 "I don't even get why you try to be nice to her," Lily says shoving her bag in her locker. We pick up our books and walk to our classrooms "I don't know. I just have this urge to be nice to people" lily scoffs "she is not people." I and Lily part ways with the plan to meet at lunch time.

I was heading to my class room, when almost the entire cheer squad run past me squealing "OMG, he's here". What was that about? 

I just ignored them and made my way into the classroom. I say hi to a bunch of people I know and catch up on their summer. After a few minutes the teacher enters the room and every one settles down. I open my notebook and get settled in. I looked around and right next to me was dear old Ana. What did I do to be seated next to her? I immediately looked for another spot to seat at and it seemed she was doing the same thing but the only sit left was behind me and that wasn't much of an upgrade. Seems like we are stuck together. I turned and smiled at her. She just rolled her eyes and gave her attention to the teacher. You know those teachers that teach a lot on the first day? Well, yea that was our Algebra teacher.

I was trying to solve a problem, when I heard the door open. I heard our teacher say something to whoever entered and he cleared his throat demanding our attention. I was so stuck on problem I didn't look up. 

Our teacher announced loudly, "This is Luke William. He is new here, so make him feel at home."

 The new guy scoffed, "well, I'm not new." That voice.

 I immediately looked up. I started with his black combat shoes, dark jeans, white shirt and black leather jacket. I looked up at his messy brown hair and his smirking lips. When I met his hazel eyes, they were looking straight at me with a raised eyebrow.
