I look down at my shaking hands. Never in a million years would I ever think I'd be in this place.
I look towards the stage once more. Niall is standing there, saying some words that ate incoherent to my brain because I'm completely freaking out.
"I love you, Avery Jensen."
He lowers the mic, and rubs his face, taking a hand through his perfect blonde quiff, messing it up a bit. He turns around, head tilted up towards the ceiling. By now, I've stopped shaking. But I only know I'm smiling like a complete idiot.
He turns towards me, bringing the mic to his lips. I hear his breath intake right before a beautiful melody spills from his lips. I look everywhere but his eyes.
"Avery! Earth to redhead."
I look away from the photo I'm holding. It's a picture if us when he sang me a song he wrote called 18. My best friend Louis, looks at me with a silly smile on his face.
"What did- what did you say? Sorry, I got caught up in memories and-"
He laughs, shaking his head. "Oh love, I understand. How do you think I feel being away from El? But I was just saying how we should order takeaway."
I nod shyly. I'm so glad to have a friend like Louis in my life. Ever since I moved here, no one wants to friends with the weird American exchange student.
But thank God school us over. I'm 19 and well happy with myself and what I work to be. Now I just want to work on some personal things, like appearance.
He gets up, dialing some takeaway number into his phone and walks into the kitchen. I look back at the picture that I never sat down.
So we took a chance
God knows we tried,
Yet all along
I knew we'd be fine
So pour me a drink, oh love,
