17. Stefan

You and Stefan have been friends forever and he is in love with you

You were so excited upon hearing the news that there would be a Mystic Fall's Masquerade Ball for a special anniversary that you didn't know much about, you loved to dance and maybe this was your chance to find someone special since most of your friends already has boyfriends or people that interest them.

Unfortunately, your mind had been compelled to the mysterious caring guy who was Stefan Salvatore, your best friend and a well known and liked vampire among people who knew about him, but Stefan to your knowledge doesn't return these specific feelings and you know by now that you should probably move on.

According to Damon and Elena, due to the current threat on the town, Stefan has decided to ditch the thought of going to the ball which to you was both a blessing and a curse, for the most part at least you won't be finding the urge to focus on Stefan and his whereabouts in the chance that he'd confess his feelings to you and now, you could focus more on having fun and potentially find someone, even if just for the night.

You sighed contently as you gave a quick twirl around in your dress in front of your mirror, admiring how the silky emerald green fabric flowed gently around your legs and how your black laced mask fitted perfectly on your face and complimented your e/c eyes.

Elena was supposed to be coming over to pick you up but the plans changed thanks to Damon and you were quite grateful that Matt took up the offer to take you, being a human when your friends are mostly vampires is sometimes the worst, but at least by being with Matt you'd feel slightly safer.

You hurried to your door as your doorbell rang, blushing when Matt gave you an appreciative whistle, "Wow Y/N, you look... you look stunning!" He complimented holding out his arm for you to take.

You thanked him and quickly grabbed your purse and jacket before taking Matt's arm as he led you to his truck. From there you made it over to the Lockwood Manor where the Ball would be held outside in the back garden.

As you both made your way to the back garden your eyes widened in awe at the sight. As it was becoming dark in the small town the lights that decorated the back garden and gazebo lit up, illuminating the place with a warm welcoming glow.

Music softly played in the background as people were already up in the cleared space dancing with their partners. "Oh, there's Tyler." Matt gestured to his best friend smiling and waving at him, you rolled your eyes playfully before pushing him forward, "Go, jeez you don't need to stay with me Matt!" you exclaimed teasingly making him chuckle offering once more for him to join you which you kindly declined, waving him off to enjoy his night.

You smiled as you glanced around at the dancing couples immediately noticing Damon and Elena, only due to the fact that Damon's silver mask was on top of his head rather than on his face, you shook your head chuckling before making your way to the drinks table where you poured yourself a serving as you observed the people around you.

"Not a good dancer or your date blew you off?" A voice called suddenly to your right as you jumped glancing towards the voice, smiling when noticing a guy in a black suit wearing a mask that covered most of his face.

You chuckled taking a sip of your drink, "Both, I guess," You shook your head in amusement, "I came with a friend but told him to have fun, he's more my ride home than anything else." You spoke as you watched the mysterious stranger pour himself a drink as he stood beside you,"What about you?"
