When his consciousness collected itself, Yunlan opened his eyes in a secluded hospital only a few high officials knew about. The room was filled with screens and medical devices, hardly making the space appear like a regular patient room. He tried to look around, but his neck was stiff, and he barely had the energy to keep his eyes opened. His tired mind closed again and he dreamed of his father bending over him, whispering inaudible words.
This short proof his body was healing itself caused an uproar among the hospital staff. They have experienced a lot of inexplicable injuries, but a patient being resurrected from the coffin was surely an extraordinary phenomenon. The headquarters was informed immediately, and everyone waited for more news.
After a few more days Yunlan was able to wake up for a longer period of time and put together the last things he remembered: Shen Wei rushing towards him, his voice filled with dread calling his name. He tried asking the nurses and doctors about Shen, but could not produce a sound. His throat was sore after they took the breathing tube out. His mind kept falling into the darkness and he let it slip into sleep on every occasion, way too weak to fight the medicine and tiredness.
Not even two weeks passed and Yunlan was able to breath on his own completely. And that was when he started demanding answers. Where is Shen? Is he all right? But the nurses and doctors always averted the topic to his own health. Everyone seemed to be mesmerized by him getting better. Yunlan concluded he was probably very badly injured and the doctors did not give him much hope at the beginning. Maybe he stayed in a coma for some time as well. His limbs were numb, and it took him a lot of mind muscle connection to make them move an inch. If he stayed in the bed, it must have been for long. Little did he know he just woke from a slumber much severe than coma.
When Da Qing visited the hospital room Yunlan gave him an easily readable look of suffering and anxiety. The younger agent sat down on a chair beside the bed and did not speak for a while. He has been thinking of a way to explain things to Yunlan. No one gave him any guidance, just "Go to check up on him and inform him about what happened. Get some details about the incident if possible." But how could you say "Hey, your lover just saved your ass and almost died along the way." without causing him a heart attack? That poor man looked as if only the wind could shatter his body. Where was the renowned and strong agent he was once so jealous of?
Da Qing closed his eyes for a few seconds to lock all the internal fights he had in his heart. Even when Yunlan's physique was damaged and weak, he was still the person Shen Wei was going to work with. Sooner or later, they will all return to work and Da Qing's dream will be shattered. But he was not there to pity himself, he was there for work.
"Shen Wei... is all right," Da Qing started at last with the information he knew Yunlan wanted to know the most. An apparent relief spread on Yunlan's face and he closed his eyes to keep tears from strolling down his cheeks.
"He saved you, you know."
"He has always been my guarding angel," Yunlan whispered in a voice which still seemed to be painful.
Da Qing sighed. He was not ready for any type of a sweet talk. He decided to cut it short to the information his superiors wanted to know. "Did you see the suspect? Do you know who is behind this all?"
Yunlan kept on gazing into the ceiling, repeating in a whisper "He is all right... he is all right..."
Da Qing let out another heavy sigh and got up. "I take it you are still in a shock. I will come back again."
"W-Wait, where is he?"
The young agent stopped in his track and said over his shoulder: "They are taking a good care of him, don't worry." and left the room.
