Upon entering his resident quarters, Soren Thierry finally decided that he needed to get his own apartment. His roommates were gone, but it was clear to see that they were here only some time ago. It didn't matter now. He would talk to them later.
He didn't have to report to base today. Soren wasn't particularly happy about that, but he guessed it would have to do. There was little he could do from home. Being at the base meant a constant source of information, but he could do with the rest for one day.
Soren lifted the banana peel with the tips of his thumb and index finger, grabbing the coffee cup beside it and carrying them to the small kitchen in the back.
At least, he had been able to talk to C.J once before she went into hiding—not that she would listen to him on that. Soren had told C.J that she should go underground when he heard about the actual incident that landed her as an instructor in the FBI Academy.
Bloody agents, Soren thought to himself. Always so full of themselves.
He had been stationed at the Marine Corps Quantico base for almost two and a half years now and he had met a good amount of FBI agents in that time. Most of them were humble enough, but after all they were agents. They had too many movies dedicated to their profession making them think they were invincible.
Unlike her colleagues, C.J was somewhat connected to the harsh reality of agent life, but that was partly because she had too much training. Too much confidence. Too much recklessness.
But he had done his job for the most part. C.J was a smart girl. She'd figure out how to come out on top in all this—or at least, stay alive.
He wasn't in tune with the world's top secret agency's mainstream gossip, but he knew that Blind Spot's Benjamin Braxton was capable. He had to be if he was carrying out this case as a solo mission and keeping track of C.J Harley.
The cold leftover coffee drained in the sink and the cup almost clattered against the steel of the sink. Soren turned the water on, but almost immediately shut it down when he heard the front door's lock being opened by a key.
Simofitz or Lauren shouldn't be here yet.
Leo Simofitz and Craig Lauren, both his roommates had to report to base today—at least that's what they told him in the morning before he left for the bar-café to meet with C.J. It couldn't be anyone else, there were only three keys and all had their own. Anyone else couldn't open the door if they wanted to.
"Hey! Thierry!" Simofitz. Leo Simofitz was here and there was Craig following behind him, both loudly walking into the apartment.
"Craig, Lee," Soren started as he sped up his pace to match theirs. "I thought you were on base today. What happened?"
"They let us off early. Something happened in the FBI building," Craig announced, his keys clattering against the messy coffee table that Soren made sure to make one of his two roommates clean it now that they were here. "They searched Ceej's locker—you saw her this morning, right? She say anything about all this?"
Soren's brow creased. He was sure C.J was long gone by now, but he couldn't believe that she would leave something behind that could be traced back to her—much less in her locker. If there was anything that needed to be taken care of, she would have done it already or would have told him to do it for her. C.J wasn't a person who liked to be not prepared.
Unless, she hadn't known someone was coming for her.
The search had to have been unofficial and immediate or else there wouldn't have been a big fuss about it. Immediate and unofficial access to the Quantico Marine base shared by the FBI Academy, meant the people had to have been from a legal organization—or they were really good hijackers.
