Ch.1 the Decision
Everything that I have once loved has been taken away from me; ripped apart, shredded into pieces you could say. Its 2:15 A.M. and I'm stuck up thinking about everything. I don't know what to do anymore. It's hard to think clearly now. But, what I do know is that I have to tell someone, no matter how much I hate the thought of someone knowing what goes on inside my head. There are only two people that I trust enough to even consider telling though. Cashmere and Elena are my two best friends. We tell each other everything. So I don't know why it's hard to tell them. Maybe it's what I think what would happen is what's stopping me from telling. That they might look at me differently, that they'll think of me as a freak, or maybe that they just won't be there for me anymore. Like they just might leave and never come back, because they'll know the truth.
I relax in my bed for a few minutes to see if sleep can find me. It isn't working, so I let my mind wonder. It's quiet in the house except for the crickets singing their nightly song. The floor boards are starting to creak in the hall way. The house is over fifty years old; they would make a ghastly creak even if a dancer tip-e-toed across them. The footsteps sound like Jessica's; who is by the way is a dance. There soft stepped and light weighted, that's her for sure. She's most likely out of bed to get a glass of water; she'll go back to her room within a few minutes.
How would I even break it to them? It's not like there's a handbook for this kind of thing. It doesn't work that way, even though I wished it did. I got to think of someone else. There has to be someone! Then out of the blues his name pops up, just like that: Jake. I can't believe I didn't think of him earlier. He's the one person I can tell anything to and he won't judge me. We've known each other basically our whole lives. He knows me best you could say, he trusts me, and he would help me work anything out no matter what it is. But maybe this is pushing it. He isn't going to like this. Especially coming from me; the sweet innocent girl down the street.
When could I even tell him? He's busy tomorrow with football practice and he's probably going to be doing something the next day with his friends like always. Might as well see if he's up now, I really doubt he is though. I get out of bed to look for my phone. It's not in its usual spot. Jessica must have used it or something. It's by the window when I finally find it. My fingers fly across the key pad as I dial his number. I push send and wait for the hello. One ring, two rings and three rings... then I hear the sound of the phone being answered followed by a very tired "Ya?"
"Hey Jake, its Holly."
"Holls? It's like 3:00 a.m. this better be good."
"It is, but I need you to promise me that you won't tell anyone."
"Holly. Don't you know me better than that?"
"I know, but still you can't tell."
"I know how to keep a promise and you know that, how many secrets do we have between each other Holly?"
"A-lot"
"And don't you trust me?"
"Yes, it's just that..."
"Remember last month and the party we snuck out to?"
"Yeah."
" Remember what happened? "
"Yeah.."
"What happened?"
" Tyler was there and was being a total jerk to me and tried to do some stuff .."
"And what did I do after you found me and told me what he did?"
" You tracked him down and beat his ass."
"Then?"
"You put me in the car and drive to the park."
"And what did we do there?"
"You had me talk about what happened and when i started crying you held me in your arms till I stopped."
"Now, do you trust me?"
"Yes"
"Then tell me what it is."
i cant even talk, my voice was just above a whisper.
"Are you talking about the dreams?"
"Yeah"
"How bad are they?"
"They're getting more detailed every night."
"Oh..."
"Ya..."
"Is that what you called to tell me Holls?"
"No, not exactly..."
"Then tell me."
"You can't try to talk me out of it ok.."
"Tell me, I won't."
I looked him straight in the eyes. "You have to promise you won't freak out."
"OKAY, I promise"
"I..."
"You what?"
"Want to die..."
"I'm picking you up in ten minutes, be ready." Then he hung up.
