Beatrice's POV

Light penetrated through the windows in a room I could not quite recognize.

Where in the freaking heck was I?

I rubbed my eyes and scanned the room. Oh that's right...I'm in Camilla's gigantic mansion.

Groaning, I grabbed my blanket and burried myself under it, away from the glaring light.

As I slowly began to fall asleep again, a booming voice met my ears.

"WAKEY WAKEY girlie!!!! Time to get ready for school and for Edson Warner!" Camilla clasped her hands together in excitement, waking me up once more.

"Ugh...leave me alone!" I grumbled.

Too late to say that, Camilla's already dragging me out of the door into the bathroom. Jeez... can't she let her makeup rest a little bit too?

Soon, I was all glamoured up and ready for the day.

I touched my face and checked myself out in the mirror. There's a reason I don't wear makeup and it's because it feels so tacky. And this dress...it's so...floral and uncomfortable. These heels! It's so...so...tall! How in the heck am I going to walk around in these for hours in school?!

Sighing, I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs, my heels clicking and clanking loudly on the hardwood stairs. Creating an echo.

"My my Beatrice dear. Why are you wearing such high heels?" Camilla's mother asked in shock.

I smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of my neck. "Errm...um...uh..." I stammered, my cheeks flushing. "Oh I get it now, a guy caught your eye I see. Well, dear, you make sure he's worth your time alright?" Camilla's mother said in a slow nod and winked cheekily at me.

I nodded and shot her a smile.

Dammit Cami! This better be worth it....

"Alright! We're here! Walk like you're the only beautiful girl in the whole wide world! Okay? No wait, strut like a fashion model in a fashion show. Okay?" Camilla instructed, grabbing me by my shoulders and shaking me vigorously.

"Cami!!! I'm getting dizzy! I can't be strutting in the hallways or anywhere properly if I'm feeling dizzy right?" I managed, groaning.

"Sorry! I'm just really excited!" Camilla apologized with a smile on her face.

"Come on, let's just go. I don't have all day." I muttered, stumbling out the door as I bid goodbye to Udcy.

"Alright! Come along now! Into the school!" Cami dragged me by my arm and I proceeded into making a bigger embarrassment in front of the whole freaking school.

This is going to be a long long day.

Everything passed by in a blur. The lessons were just plain boring, I wasn't really focusing on history and geometry. This is just going out of hand....

"Come on come on come on...bell, just ring already." I whispered to myself as lunch was nearing.

I took the remaining time to pack my things and take off my heels. I'll just wear them when I have to go. I wasn't feeling so good today. Things are just not going the way I want them to.

I longed so badly to be able to scrape this tacky makeup of my face. How I longed to ditch this uncomfortable dress and wear my worn out jeans and T-shirt. How I longed to take these heels off and replace them with sneakers.

After my classes I need to go to the hospital and work. Ugh...this is going just great.

The bell rang a loud riinggg and it woke me up from my thoughts.

"Are those heels you are wearing?" someone asked with disgust evident in her tone.

I squinted and glanced upwards to the speaker.

"Yes...and who are you may I ask?" I queried.

"I am Rachel Hawkins. Nice to meet ...um...you? Now why is such a short, clumsy and desperate girl wearing those die-worthy heels and strutting down the hallway like some snob?" Rachel said with an innocent smile plastered on her face.

What in the heck did she just call me?! Desperate?!

"Excuse me, I really need to be going now, haha, it was nice meeting you too Rachel. The name's Beatrice by the way." I said with clenched teeth as I fumbled with my heels.

Almost immediately, I dashed out of the room shoeless and walked to the cafeteria.

On the way, I could see Camilla making her way towards me with, a wide grin on her face. Although...her grin dropped to a frown the second she saw me shoeless. I smiled sheepishly and attempted to put it back on without falling.

Camilla stood there, not moving, frozen in her place just watching me making a fool out of myself. I swear, this girl can be just so...so...don't stare at this, I don't know!

She studied and observed my movements and expressions for a while before she finally spoke up.

"Betty, are you okay? You look like you just woke up from a nightmare." Camilla said tentatively.

"I don't know....Everything is just going horribly Cami. These heels are so uncomfortable and long, this dress is so floral and uncomfortable, this makeup is so-" Before I could continue, I was interrupted by a very familiar voice...

"Oh? The receptionist puts makeup?" Edson inquired, his hands in his pockets.

I mustered up the best glare I could but I think it looks like teary eyes in front of Edson because he started laughing hard. Like those kind of laughter that makes you roll on the floor.

But at that moment, I was so embarrassed I could dig my own grave. I didn't know that glares can be so funny. Cue the stupid crowd.

"What do you want?!" I finally spoke up, full of hatred. Still glaring at him because you know, practice makes perfect?

"Nahh I don't want or need anything from you, just came by to criticize your outfit" Edson assured the crowd. Being famous has its perks as the crowd started laughing after his statement. It's a stab through my heart, he's really mean, I did nothing to deserve this.

"I don't have anything to say to that." I replied. I could feel the heat from my cheeks. "Let's go Cami." I said, taking her hand and walking off.

Little did I know, that I had dropped my backpack when I had realized Edson was looking at me. All the books spilling everywhere.

Before Cami could warn me, I stepped on some of my books and slipped butt first on the floor.

A loud thud echoed through the hallways and within a blink of an eye, the crowd started to guffaw even louder than just now.

I blinked back the tears that were threatening to escape, I couldn't let anyone see me cry. I can't like Edson see me like this, to let him have any satisfaction. I sighed, rubbing my eyes and helping myself up, grabbing the books that spilled over the floor.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Edson laughing away like a madman. Again. His hands were wrapped around Rachel's waists and his broad shoulders were moving vigorously from laughing. His brown, messy locks were falling to his eyes, hindering his hazel nut eyes.

Grabbing the lasts of my books and stuffing them into my bag, I ran, away from the crowd, away from Rachel and Camilla. Away from Edson.
