As if planned Phoenix walked over. " I THOUGHT IT'D GET YOU EXPELLED!" she yelled. "REALLY AVA!" he yelled. If he was a cartoon character steam would be coming out of his ears and his face would be tomato red right now.
"H-Hey Phoenix how long have you been standing there?" she said already knowing the answer. There was only one person who Avery was scared of. And that person is Phoenix.
"Go get changed Peaches. I'll take care of this," he said with a smile. I nodded with a smile, then left to go get changed.
I rushed to the locker room and got changed fast so I could see what was going to happen between Avery and Phoenix. June saw me rushing and asked me why I was in a rush. I told her what happened as I was changing. We both rushed to see what was going on. By the time we got there they were still in the same spots, I left them in. We got close enough to hear but not seen.
" Phoenix it's really not what you think." Ava started. "I was just checking on her to make sure she was ok. I heard she had to stay and talk to Ms. Happy after class." she continued with a worried look on her face. She was a good actor. I mean she could foul any and everyone. But she could never foul Phoenix. It's like he has a lie detector when it comes to her.
"Do you think I'm stupid?" he asked crossing his arms.
"NO!" she yelled with no hesitation.
"So, why do you keep lying to me like you think I'm stupid?" he said trying not to make a scene. She didn't say anything she just looked at him with sad puppy dog eyes.
"Why can't you just leave Mia alone?" he sighed putting a hand on his head.
"I just want my brother back," she said sounding like she was about to cry.
Did I forget to say that their brother and sister?
"You have a funny way of showing it," he replied. "Get out of my face," he said before she could get a word out. She left as fast as she could.
Me and June walked to him. "Now go get changed," I told him. He kissed me on the forehead and then left.
"Why does she have it out for you so bad gurl?" June asked. I let out a heavy sigh. "It's because she has the love of the two people Avery cares for the most," Jason said taking the words out my mouth as he walked over to us. "Who would those two people be?" asked June with an eyebrow raised.
"Me and Jason of course," Phoenix says as he walks up to join the three of us.
"What does JASON have to do with HER!?" asked a very confused and slightly angry June. We never told her that Avery had a thing for Jason. Not because we didn't trust her not to say anything to Avery but because June has always felt that she wasn't good enough for him. So, if she knew that Avery wanted Jason she would've given him up without a fight. Breaking not only her heart but his as well.
All three of us looked at eachother. "She has...a crush on him," I said sheepishly while rubbing my neck. She looked at him with tears forming in her eyes. "Why didn't you tell me?....Do-Do you want her?" she said through her tears. Jason walked over to her and wiped her tears away. He held her face and told her "She doesn't stand a chance against you. Not only do her looks pale in comparison to yours but your everything she will never be." He then kissed her on the forehead. He's always had a way with words. He could make anyone's heart melt.
"Dude, you make me look bad." Phoenix said with a laugh as he elbowed Jason in the side."That's because YOU can't compare with ME." Jason said flexing.
*coach blows the whistle*
"Time for you to lose to me in volleyball." Jason said braggingly. Jason and Phoenix ran up to the coach to ask if they could be team captains. They nearly knocked him over. Whenever they're on opposite teams me and June get caught in the middle. But this time I was prepared. Before class, I asked coach if boys and girls could play separately. And of course, he said yes. I told June but not the boys.
"Of course y'all can be captains, I already knew y'all were gonna ask," Coach told them before they could even get the words out. They looked at eachother with such competitive looks. Jason and Phoenix pointed at me. June wasn't good at volleyball. I knew what that meant. They started walking over to us but then coach pulled them back. Me and June watched as coach told the boys that girls and boys were playing separately. They glared at me and then back to coach.
" This is all your doing isn't it!" Jason and Phoenix yelled as they walked over to me and June."Did what?" I asked trying not to laugh.
"Don't play dumb Paris," Jay said "We know it was you who asked coach for boys and girls to play separately," Phoenix continued. Before I could respond coach called everyone over to him to tell them the news. "Oops. Would you look at that gotta go." I said dragging June with me.
After finding out about everything. We split up into 4 teams. 2 boy teams and 2 girls teams. Jason and Phoenix were the captains for the boys and Me and Avery were captains for the girls. There were enough for all teams to have 6 players with 3 subs.
*a whole class of playing later*
My team won against Avery's team. If it weren't for Pixie being on her team they wouldn't have stood a chance. And Jason won against Phoenix. I could tell cause he was doing his victory dance.
The rest of the day went by in a blur. The next thing I knew school was over and I'm outside walking toward Trixie. Trixie Springs doesn't have a filter most of the time. So, she's pretty much the Queen of detention. Like earlier when I said she "left" class. I was basically saying before she went to detention. She has a twin. She has both streets and books smart. She's been with me and Jason for the past 9 years.
"Hey, MIMI, how was school?" asked Trixie putting her phone away.
"You know the usual," I responded. "Avery made my day," I continued sarcastically.
"What did wanna be Barbie do this time," she asked. So, for like the third time today I found myself telling the same story.
"Firstly, everyone knows your one of the smartest people in our grade. And secondly, Jay's an idiot." She replied. And we both laughed.
"I heard my name," said Jason walking over to us. "Of course you did," Trixie replied. " You always do." I joined in.
"I love y'all too." He said with a wink. We acted as if we were vomiting. "You two are so mean to me." said Jason who then started to "cry".
"You know we love you," I replied. " Right ya big softy," Trixie added.
Just then Avery and her minions popped up. "Hey, losers. Hey Jay." Avery said as they came closer.
"Two things." Jason Replied. "One, don't call me that. And two, do I know you?" He continued.
"Don't play silly," Avery said. " You know you want her." Pixie interjected. Pixie Springs is Avery's right hand, her muscle. If there's no Pixie there's no Avery . Pixie is Trixie's twin sister. They don't really get along. Pixie is street and book smart too. Just not as much as Trixie. No one knows why she hangs with Ava. Honestly, if she wanted she could rule the school.
We all looked and felt disgusted at what Pixie had said.
"Problem?" Pixie asked. "Yea. Y'all" replied Trixie. Me and Jason start cracking up. Avery and Pixie start to get annoyed. Jasmine on the other hand started to feel uneasy.
Jason didn't want a fight to break out so he shot me a "do something" look. So, I said the first thing that came to mind.
"Avery how was your talk with Phoenix?" I said not really knowing what else to say. She looked shocked at first but then quickly changed her expression. "What are you talking about?" Avery replied rolling her eyes.
"So, you don't want your brother back?" I replied. I wasn't sure what I was trying to prove. Avery got mad and smacked me. Trixie pushed her and she fell to the ground.
As if it couldn't have gotten worse Ms. West showed up. "What's going on over here," she asked peeved.
