TAMED LI - MY TI MOUNE

RHIO RITCHEL'S POV

"WHY do you keep playing that same song?" I asked. She had been strumming Araw-araw repeatedly, as far as I could remember.

After cuddling and napping for a bit, we decided to end the night by sitting near the bonfire with a glass of wine, after having our dinner. While I was busy roasting marshmallows on a stick, I listened to her play. She stopped singing but continued strumming as she chewed on the chunks of chicken barbecue that I fed her. I noticed that she wasn't much into seafood, but she loved meat and always went for the meaty barbecue whenever it was available.

"Narinig ko kaninang kinakanta sa bistro, ikaw agad naalala ko."

I nodded in agreement with her love for the song, but then I asked, "Do you have any questions for me? You know you can always ask me anything."

I remembered when she used that same song in a prank message she sent me, and I must confess that I flirted with her in response. I encouraged her to keep practicing and singing the song for me, and I couldn't help but blush as I pictured myself in the classroom, chatting her back eagerly before my next class.

She was gazing at me with such intense interest, making me feel a bit self-conscious. I raised an eyebrow in response and shrugged it off, feeling a bit awkward. "Itong kinanta mo sa Acquaintance Party natin, naaalala mo pa ba?"

"Y-yes?"

"Kantahin mo ulit."

Dying Inside To Hold You.

"Can you suggest another song?" The song is too sentimental to me and singing it will only bring back memories I don't wanna remember. That's Sachienzo and I--

Favorite song 'yon ni Sachienzo.

"Bakit hindi 'yon? I love your voice, it fits you." She pouts, using me her dimpled lip and her baby stares. "First time ko marinig kang kumanta habang naggigitara, sige na. Crush mo naman ako, eh."

"Think of another song."

"Oh sige ito na lang, 'wag ka na lang kumanta. Sagutin mo na lang tanong ko, ba't 'di mo natapos 'yun no'n? Hinulog mo pa 'yung gitara, eh."

"That was an accident."

"Paano?"

"I saw him," I hesitated for a moment, but then decided there was no reason to lie anymore. "Franko. I was shocked when I saw him that night. He was smiling at me."

"Ba't ka magugulat? Naalala ko nga, parang nakakita ka ng multo noong gabing 'yon eh," She blurts out under her long lashes, " Bukod sa takot ka sa multo gaano siya kapangit?"

As I reflected on that night, I realized that my reaction to seeing Franko may have seemed exaggerated. However, it was truly shocking to see someone who looked so much like Sachienzo - I had thought I was seeing a ghost. It wasn't until later that I found out he was Sachienzo's younger brother. Despite their one-year age gap, they could easily pass for twins!

We lapsed into silence once again, and the topic of conversation had shifted to something that made me feel uncomfortable. My head was throbbing, and it felt like every tiny detail of the past was squeezing my brain.

"Pwede ba akong magtanong ulit tungkol sa naging pagkikita niyo ni Lolo Roverts noon?"

"I'm listening," I said, taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly. I was feeling a bit uneasy, to be honest. The conversation we'd had earlier in the day had left me with some lingering questions, and the news about Tatay Roverts had only added to my confusion.
