A few hours into my nap, I started to dream about the date I would have with Landon. During the part where I was sure he was going to kiss me I was rudely interrupted by rough hands shaking me.
“Go away,” I mumbled.
“No we can’t do that,” I heard a soft voice say.
“Why not?” I asked slowly opening my eyes. I saw Carter hovering over me with three girls standing behind him.
“Because you have a date with Landon in two hours, and you haven’t gone shopping yet,” he explained.
I blankly stared at him then wondered how long I was asleep. I yawned then started to debate in mind whether I should go shopping or just stay in bed and sleep. I rolled over to my other side then closed my eyes sleep at the moment seemed like the better option.
“Can you give us a minute?” Carter asked.
“Fine, but she better be ready in ten minutes,” I heard one of the girls respond then heard footsteps across the floor and the door closing.
“Rosa,” Carted said and I didn’t respond. “Come on Rosa get up. Landon has been looking forward to this date all day. He hasn’t shut up about it since this morning.”
“Really,” I said somnolently.
“Yes, now get up,” he said sternly. I slowly got out of bed feeling like a dead weight.
“I’ll only go shopping with you,” I said looking him straight in the eye.
“Why me?” he asked.
“Because you’re a guy and a good friend of mine that I trust so I value your opinion a little bit more than theirs,” I said pointing my thumb in the direction of the door.
“Fine,” he sighed. “As long as you’re willing to go.”
“Yay!” I cheered then went to the bathroom.
“Don’t take long,” Carter said before I shut the door. I took a quick shower and got dressed. When I came out of the room Carter was sitting on the couch waiting for me.
“Ready to go?” he asked and I nodded. We headed out of the house and into his car.
“Can I drive?” I asked as we neared his car.
“Sure,” he said tossing me, the keys and I went over and got into the driver’s side. I turned on the car making the engine roar to life and I hit the gas to hear the engine growl. I smiled in content and put my seat belt on then backed out of the driveway. It was silent besides the music playing in the car and I was thankful for that. I honestly didn’t know what to say to him. I pulled into a parking space at the mall and we got out. I handed Carter back his keys and he shoved them into his pocket.
“So,” I started linking my arms with his, “do you know what clothing Landon like’s on a girl?”
“Yeah,” he said with a smirk.
“What type of clothing?”
“A girl’s birthday suit,” he said with a grin I glared at him and he chuckled. “I’m just teasing.”
“You better be,” I said as we entered Macy’s. I felt my phone vibrate in my jean’s pocket and quickly took it out. I looked at the screen and saw the picture of Michael and Rachel smiling. I hit answer, and said hello.
“Hey Rosa I’ve been trying to contact you all day,” he said.
“Really sorry I was sleeping,” I said apologetically.
