Why was Stephanie holding Oikawa's hand?

I look at her, unfazed as she hops onto the bus while dragging Oikawa. I enter the bus and pay for an all-day ticket.

We look for a place to sit and Oikawa suggests sitting next to me. I sigh in relief, for a moment there I thought he was going to sit next to Stephanie.

Oikawa sits down, "So, are you excited?"

"Yeah," I smile, "Volleyball seems so fun."

"It is. I love it. I hope you end up loving it too. I can't wait to show you my jump serve."

"Jump serve?"

Stephanie turns around. She's sitting on the seats in front of us, "Ooo, is this the jump serve you've been bragging about to me Tooru?"

"I usually get a decent amount of service aces from it." Oikawa explains.

"So do I!" Stephanie laughs, "Let's see who's better."

"Oh, so you're challenging me?"

"Hell yeah, I've been praised in Nationals a few times for my killer serves." Stephanie brags, "and my sets."

"Sure." Oikawa says sarcastically.

She lightly punches his shoulder, "It's true!"

The two of them laugh.

Am I the third-wheel?

I don't know a lot about volleyball so whatever they're talking about isn't familiar with me. The two of them have way more in common.

For the entire bus ride, they're chatting while I read more fanfics on my phone.

I swear I'm not jealous...

We get off the bus and enter the sports centre. Stephanie uses her sports card to pass reception while Oikawa and I have to pay with coins.

Once we do, we walk to the changing rooms, Stephanie's in front leading the way while Oikawa and I are behind.

"Hey, Timid-chan," He says, "mind if I ask you something?"

"No," I reply, looking directly into his eyes, "Why?"

"I noticed how you call me by my last name. Here, people usually refer to each other using their first names."

"Oh!" I brighten up, "I watch a lot of Japanese cartoons and I've noticed how they refer to each other using their last names as a form of respect or if they're not that close to the person, that's why."

"That's so thoughtful of you." Oikawa claps his hands, "I wish you could come to Japan with me sometime. You'd love it there. I'd buy you some milkbread, you could meet Iwa-chan, you could see my school... I could ask you out on a date to this restaurant I really like—"

"We're here." Stephanie points at the changing rooms, "There's the boy changing room and girl changing room." She then points at the toilets, "And there are the toilets."

"Ok," Oikawa walks over to the boys changing room, "See you guys in a few minutes."

Stephanie goes into the girls changing room. I know it'll be extremely awkward changing with Stephanie, so I decide to go to toilets and wait in there for a while.

I enter a bathroom stall and play Clash of Clans. I haven't played in a while, and it looks like I got kicked out of the clan I was in and lost 300+ trophies.

That sucked.

After 15 minutes I decide to enter the changing room. I slowly open the door and to my surprise, Stephanie's the only one there. She's busy adjusting her knee pads.
