Hi, before posting the story I want to let you know that it is somehow requested. The name of the girl I wrote it's my friend's name, Hania. Hope you like it! Please note that titles are generated automatically by Reedsy.

Must stick between 250 - 350 words.

It was the faintest misty night I have ever seen. A few hours ago I decided that I had to go for groceries – otherwise, I would have anything to eat. The dwarf shrubs along the sidewalk were shaking as if some animals were hiding inside them, and the exotic and mighty old trees were shaking their leaves as well. Moreover, small hisses from bats surrounding me were creeping me out. However, I was getting closer to the city centre where I live.

Rushiedly, I hugged the brown paper bag full of stuff closer to me as I walked. There was not a single soul on the sidewalks nor the streets I crossed. Not until I saw a figure far away in the dark. It was... a man? Nonetheless, that figure was as spooky as fuck. I shut my eyes and decided to ignore him. But the feeling that he might be a rapist or a serial killer wouldn't wear off that easily. The man was a block away from me now. I continued internal-panicking and felt my limbs numb. Dizziness was all that I felt coming from my stomach. If I crossed the street? Would he notice? Would it be too obvious? Bats continued chirring next to me, tensing all my body. At that point, I couldn't feel my neck. So frozen I was that I could barely walk. But it was time, the man was a few meters apart from me.Again, I shut my eyes while I was holding my breath. I wish I could walk faster but fear gained control over my small body. Anyhow, he knew my name. "Hania, Hania!" He vociferated. I opened my eyes so wide they almost fell from my eye bowls. I shrieked by the touch of a huge hand on my shoulders and started punching the man with the paper bag."Stop, crazy bitch. I'm your cousin." As he said that, I recognise our similar facial features and that childish expression he always put. "Why would you scare me like that?!" I complained, and he responded with only "I saw you before passing by and I wanted your safe return to your home."I then shrugged and invited him to have supper. I need to check my paranoia as soon as possible.
