Rika continued down the hallway, away from where Saeran and Yeong were hiding. However, Saeran was still petrified.
She's going to put me through the drugs again. I'm going to slip back into the person I was. No.. no..!
He was petrified into place. He couldn't move. All he could think about was the pain he was going to be forced into again.
"Sir...sir!" Yeong started shaking him. "We have to move!"
"I won't...I won't go back... please, don't make me!" Saeran muttered.
Yeong looked at him sympathetically. He could see the trauma Saeran was going through. He hugged Saeran, as tight as he could.
"It's going to be ok, we are going to get out of here. It's ok, it's ok..."
Saeran went silent for a second. Then he broke away from Yeong. "I'm sorry, that's not what is important right now. We need to get you out of here. Let's go."
"Yes sir!"
Idiot, Saeran thought. How could I break down at a time like this.
They began their trek up the stairs. We are so close to getting Yeong out of here.
"Luciel, are there any guards near the exit at the moment?"
"No, it is all clear," Saeyoung's voice crackled over the mic.
"Let's run, Yeong! We can do this!" Saeran said, eager to get this mission over and done with.
They began running up the stairs, the promise of freedom not far away. Yeong smiled at Saeran's back. Thank God he found me.
At the top of the stairs, they slowed once more. "Is it still clear Luciel?"
"Yes. Give me one sec to loop the camera...ok, go! Now!"
Saeran grabbed Yeong's wrist, almost dragging him in his rush to get out. Bursting through the doors, he quickly glanced around to make sure no one saw them. After he reassured himself, they ran into the cover of the forest. After a safe distance, Saeran let Yeong take a breather while he figured out which direction they needed to go.
Yeong sat down, putting his head on his knees. He panted, the emotional and physical exhaustion finally hitting him.
Saeran finished what he was doing, and knelt in front of Yeong. "Are you alright? Can you keep going?"
Yeong nodded, straightening back up. "Yes. I'm alright. Where are we going next?"
He saw Saeran hesitate. Yeong had learned that when Saeran did that, it meant he was scared of the consequences of what he was about to say.
"Sir, whatever it is, I can handle it. Don't worry," Yeong said, trying to reassure Saeran.
Saeran sighed. "I know you can handle it, Yeong. But that doesn't mean that you should have to."
Yeong just waited, looking expectantly at Saeran.
"You will have to go on alone, Yeong," Saeran said, eyes downcast.
Yeong was silent. A small "Oh" was all he could manage.
"I have everything you need," Saeran continued. "There is food, money, and a cell phone if you need to contact me. It's all in this bag. Just make sure you stay away from any cities in this area. Continue hiking for three days before you stop at any hotel or gas station."
He looked back up at the young teen. "Yeong?"
"Why?" Yeong asked quietly. "Why are you staying here? You are so scared of that woman. I don't know what is going on there, but you can't stay."
Saeran paused, then took out his earpiece, making sure it was turned off.
"I have to stay. There are people I need to protect, including you. If we both disappear, Rika will stop at nothing to find us. But you haven't been initiated yet, so if you escape she won't be as surprised," Saeran replied. He stood back up, taking a few steps to stretch his legs.
"The other people you have to protect...is the person you were talking to one of them?" Yeong asked curiously.
"...I don't know yet," Saeran admitted. "But I do know you need to leave."
He took the backpack off his shoulders and looked through it for a second. After finding what he was looking for, he handed it and the backpack to Yeong.
"Here," he said. "This is a list of places that are safe for you to go. There is a phone number on there, as well as on the phone. If you are ever in trouble, let me know."
Yeong nodded, shouldering the backpack.
They both stared at each other, unsure of what to say.
"Well the-" Saeran was cut off by Yeong hugging him. He hugged him back tightly.
"Good luck kid. May you have the future I didn't," Saeran murmured.

"Did Yeong get away safe?" Saeyoung asked.
Saeran had sneaked back in, and was now taking the laptop and other equipment back from Saeyoung.
"Yes," Saeran said shortly. He was in a spiral of emotions, and didn't know how to handle it. He was too tired to be angry at his brother at the moment.
"Good," Saeyoung hummed.
Saeran looked at him closely. His brother looked better than he had in years. Not in a physical way, he was still emaciated. But his face was very peaceful.
Saeran turned away, surprising himself again. He was feeling more and more protective of his brother every day. It scared him. He didn't know what to do without his anger.
So he left without saying a word. Saeyoung looked at his disappearing figure in surprise. Usually Saeran left with a jeer.
Saeyoung smiled. That boy must have helped more than I thought.
