Saeran had not spoken to MC for a day now. After her declaration, he ran.

Things were happening too fast. He never meant for things to get this out of hand. First breaking out Yeong, now this.

Why did he make contact with MC to begin with?

Stupid.

He just wanted to go back to his Savior and beg for her forgiveness, to accept the punishment for his sins.

But he couldn't. His eyes had been opened, and he couldn't close them again even if he wanted to. His savior had become a wolf in sheep's clothing.

He still hated his brother. There was no doubt about that. But he was beginning to understand what Luciel went through.

But more importantly he understood what MC was feeling. After rescuing Yeong, he knew that MC would do anything for her family as well.

So he went back. He knocked on MC's door.

And was met with a loaded gun and steely eyes.

"Give me one good reason I shouldn't shoot you, Saeran," MC said, voice hate-ridden.

He smiled slightly at her. "I don't have one. In fact, I wish you would. It would make everything quiet, for once."

MC's expression didn't change, but she didn't shoot. She backed into her room, gun still trained on him. She wiggled it, motioning for him to come in.

He entered, closing the door behind him. He doubted anyone would call the cops in this part of town, but he figured better to be safe than sorry.

MC tossed some zip-ties to him. "Tie yourself to that chair."

He followed her instructions. As soon as he was secure, MC came and double checked his bonds. After assuring herself that he wasn't going anywhere, she finally holstered her gun.

"Why did you come back?" She asked him, her eyes watching his every move.

"I want to help you," he replied, trying to be as sincere as possible.

"On Rika's behalf, I'm sure," MC spat out.

"No!" Saeran snapped back. "You need to understand-"

"You need to understand, Saeran! I will not let you or that snake ruin everything I've worked so hard to build. I'll protect my family!"

He let her catch her breath, his eyes softening. "I do understand, MC. I finally understand you, after all these years."

Her face had an expression of disbelief at his words. However, she stayed silent, allowing him to speak.

"A lot of events have happened since we took Luciel-"

"Saeyoung," she corrected him.

His face twisted. "Yes, Saeyoung," he hissed. "I won't lie, I still hate my brother for what he did. He left me with that woman we called 'Mother' so he could run away."

"But!" He quickly said before MC could respond. "I now understand why he did that."

"Like I said, MC, a lot has happened since you last saw Luciel. Especially this past year. I've seen my Sav- Rika," he corrected himself, the sadness evident on his face. "I've seen Rika for what she really is, an intelligent psychopath using poor souls for her own means. I've lured most of these people to her. And I hate myself now for doing so."

"This past year I've finally realized everything about Paradise is wrong. And do you know what made me come to that realization?"

MC cocked her head just slightly, eyes just barely beginning to soften.

"You did. You, your son, and one other person. I've seen you with your son, I've seen how much you love each other. You truly take care of him, and the RFA takes care of you. I thought that was what my Savior and Paradise were to me. But they're not. They were a lie," he said bitterly.

"You asked why I came back," Saeran said, voice strengthening. "I want to help you keep your family. I want to repay you for showing me what family really is."

MC continued looking him in the eye for a moment, then turned away from him. He heard her sniff and realized she was trying not to cry.

After she composed herself, she turned back to him. "Saeran, I've hated you for all these years. I..." She took a breath. "I need some time."

"I understand," he replied. "What do you want me to do? If you need me to leave, that's fine. If you want to leave me tied up, that's fine too."

MC barked out a laugh, despite herself. "That isn't something you hear every day."

Saeran managed a tiny smile. "I suppose not."

She walked up to him, pausing for a moment. Then she cut his bonds away.

He got up slowly, noting she instinctively put a hand on her gun. He felt a twinge of sadness at the sight, but brushed it away.

"Get a room here at the motel," MC instructed. "I suppose if you were going to capture or kill me you would have done it by now. Meet me here tomorrow at noon."

He nodded, not trusting himself to speak.

She showed him out, both keeping silent. They stared at each other for a moment once Saeran was out the door. It should have been an awkward moment, but it was just a moment of understanding between the two.

Then MC shut the door, and Saeran left to purchase a room. As he went down the stairs, he stopped in astonishment.

He was smiling.
