Chapter 23: Case Closed (Book of Murder Pt. 3)

(You probably noticed lately I've alternated between the book of murder arc and just a general story arc. Yeah...makes the dramatic cliff hangers even worse. *giggles evilly*)

Amy's POV

"So....how are we supposed to investigate a murder everyone has an alibi for?" Lao asked me as all of us sat in the lounge with Ciel and some others playing pool (or whatever they called it back in the late Victorian Era that black butler is set in)

"Well for one we investigate this properly. Gathering any and all evidence that can help find the culprit or culprits. Who knows how this occurred because the biggest mystery to me...is the god damn door. Sebastian had to freaking kick it down to even get us in meaning it was locked before and after the murder except only the staff have keys and I know Sebastian is the only night owl out of all the Phantomhive staff" due to my MANY late night reading sessions

"Indeed. That part is confusing. If Sebastian was the only one who had the key and the door was locked then could the culprit have come in through the windows?" Arthur asked me

"Doubt it. I have about twenty different warding spells over the mansion and if anyone tried to come in through the windows my magic would alert me but nothing"

"Ah that explains why you are so tired then sweetheart" Rachel told me which caught me off guard.

I can't even argue the truth but maybe Sona can help out!

"Sona it's Amy. I need a favor"

"Sure what's up?"

"Can you smell a dead body anywhere in the manor?"

"No. And I know you claim to have found one but he ain't dead"

I ended that chat with a smirk on my face

"Sebastian come with me please. We need to get him out of the basement. He has some stuff to answer for" I whispered to the raven demon then we went outside

"How can a dead man answer questions though Amy?" Sebastian asked

"Who said he was dead. I just had Sona use her powers to detect any dead bodies anywhere in the manor and she found none. Kind of odd given what we found" I replied then we went into the basement where the dead man (I forgot his name. XD) was on his feet and saw us. Before we even had a chance to react to what was going on he SOMEHOW threw me into a wall and gave Sebastian a knee to the gut rendering the demon unconscious before he did the same to me and I blacked out

Ciel's POV

"I just noticed. Where did Sebastian and Amy disappear to?" Father asked

"I saw Miss Shadow ask the butler something and heard mention of the cellar then they left and that was all I heard" Ren Mao replied

"They must have went down to investigate the body. Should someone follow?" Arthur added

"I believe it would be wise. I know Amy and Sebastian. Both of them are tough but have been through a lot lately which is why I suggested to Sebastian he take some time off to recover from the ordeals as of late and Amy....well she's still as selfless as ever" I replied then father, mother and I went down to the basement with Arthur where we found no dead body, but rather two unconscious demons. Sebastian and Amy

We somehow managed to get both back to their bedrooms to rest. I had Tanaka watch over Sebastian whilst Mey-Rin watched over Amy.

We returned to the lounge to let people know what happened

"Did you find them my lord?" Lao asked

"Indeed. Both are in their rooms resting. It seems our dead man is back to life and he managed to knock out both Sebastian and Amy somehow." I replied

"But given enough rest both will be alright" I added then the next day both were back on their feet.

Amy's POV

I was sitting out in the beautiful sunshine in our back garden with everyone including Sebastian having time off. Turns out the man who "died" drank something to make him APPEAR dead but you can't trick the nose of a being who feeds off of dead bodies

I was about to grab one of the sandwiches Sebastian and Mey-Rin cooked up when a letter appeared

"What's it say?" Ciel asked so I opened the letter and read what it said out loud.

My beloved kitten and niece.

As you know, now that you are of age, your coronation to officially name you Crown Princess will be approaching. Know that your parents, Silver and are so proud of all you achieved. You rose up when the darkness was about to wipe out the mystic isles and you banished the darkness returning the light of hope to our beloved kingdom.

We know that a decision like this won't be easy but after your coronation you may need to move back home to the mystic castle. However, now that Luxio is no longer a threat the gateway separating our lands from your friends and family in England will forever remain open so you can come and go whenever you want.

Your mother and father will be in touch soon to let you know the date of the coronation when we settle it but I look forward to seeing you again.

That's right....

I closed the letter then smiled warmly

"You'll be leaving soon won't you" Ciel asked

"Yeah...but not forever. I may be the mystic princess again but I will always be the guard phoenix at heard but most of all, I will always be the daughter of the watchdog and the sister to the guard dog. None of that will change." I replied

"I know but..." Ciel started

"Listen. I am going to be using my birth name but with a twist. At my coronation as crown princess I will make sure people know I am Crown Princess Amy Phantomhive Shadow of the Mystic Isles and I sure hope you all are going to attend the ceremony" I explained then we just relaxed the rest of the day
