As we get closer and closer to the hideout, my heart begins to race.

'What am I doing? I shouldn't even be with him. Maybe I should-'

"Are you always this quiet or are you having second thoughts?"

The sound of Pain's voice brings me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry, I'm just nervous."

"No need to apologize," Pain says. "I understand why you're nervous. Believe me, you have nothing to worry about."

"Easier said than done," I say to Pain as we reach the door.

"Try to relax, okay?"

I nod my head and take in deep breaths while he works on opening the door. When he opens it, he allows me to go first. I give him a smile and step through. I can barely believe my eyes. Feeling nervous the whole time caused me to overlook how big the hideout is.

"Welcome to the Akatsuki hideout."

I look around the entrance of the hideout. The room is lit up by chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, gray wallpaper covers every wall, and gray tiles cover the floor. There's a black couch, three black recliners, and a gray bean bag sitting in front of a tv mounted on the wall.

'Wow.'

I hear a little laughter coming from Pain who's standing right beside me. Looking over at him, I see a smile on his face. One that I can actually see.

'His smile is everything!'

"You like it," he asks me with his beaming smile.

"Like it? I love it. It's beautiful," I replay as I look through some doors from where I'm standing.

"I'm glad you love it."

I turn my attention back to Pain, ready to ask who decorated the house, but the sound of footsteps approaching stops me. A guy wearing an orange mask, black gloves, and an Akatsuki cloak is approaching us. The only other thing that's visible on him is his short black hair.

I hear him gasp when he spots us. He immediately breaks out into a run. His sudden movement scares me, causing me to jump a little and cling to Pain's arm. Once he's in front of us, I nuzzle my head into Pain's chest. He wraps his arm around me and rubs my arm, letting me know not to be afraid.

"Leader-sama, you're back!"

"Yes, Tobi, I'm back."

"Is this your friend that you were talking about," the guy named Tobi asks as he moves around to see my face.

"Yeah. I think you frightened him when you ran towards us."

"Really?"

Tobi bends down to be eye level with me.

"Tobi's sorry that he scared you."

"It's okay," I say in a low tone. Pain's arm stops moving, but he still has it wrapped around me. I move my face away from his chest to see the figure in front of me clearly.

"Are you Naruto?"

I nod my head.

"Nice to meet you, Naruto. I'm Tobi! I've heard a lot about you."
