(A/N: Hello! This was a very personal chapter, I have added some music to add extra feels 😝 When the flashback starts, you can play it xxx)
ELLIE'S P.O.V:
I sat down on the grass with Ollie. The rain had subsided and the sun had started to peek through the clouds.
It made miserable.
Where had the lovely rain gone?
I started to read Ollie.
Scruffy clothing, long coat, overgrown hair...
I took a lungful of air through my nose
...Smells like a bin...
I realized. "you're homeless" I stated.
Ollie gave me a puzzled look, but nodded his head."Yeah, I've been homeless ever since I left university"
"Why?"
"They don't exactly have a need for an archaeologist"
"Wasn't that the same course as Chloe?"I almost thought I saw his eyes well up, but then he screwed his fists into a ball and was back to his normal self.
"Yes it was. When Chloe and Ayrton were on a break she came to me. She told me she loved me and I believed her. We dated for 6 months."
I was shocked. I thought Chloe had a perfect relationship.
Ollie continued."She was perfect, literally perfect. I was her first apparently..."
"You mean to tell me..."He raised his eyebrows.
"Yes, Chloe lied about losing her virginity to Ayrton"
A small smile crept over both of our faces.
"You loved her, didn't you"
"I did"
"So let's put a stop to this wedding"
"Well, that was my reason for coming up to the Midlands in the first place"Although Ollie looked happy, you could see the hurt in his eyes. The type pure pain you can only see in a man with a broken heart.
I knew a lot about broken hearts.*FLASHBACK* (play the music!)
"Babe?" I rolled over to find my boyfriend gone from the bed. I sighed.
Sometimes I thought he argued and left the house just to avoid living with me...
No. He loved me. Right?
The argument we had last night kept replying around my head.I twisted the small emerald ring around and around my finger. He kept postponing the wedding though...
After about an hour I got a phone call from him.
"Hey"
"Hello"
"I'm sorry about last night, I was in a bad mindset. Where did you go?"There was a brief pause.
"Ashleigh's"
"Ashleigh!? You mean your secretary?"
"Yes."
"Oh. Will you be home?" I said timidly.
"Maybe later"
"I did call you last night although I didn't expect you to answer."
"I was... busy babe"
"Not even one explanation? Just tell me the truth"The other end of the line was silent.
"Bye" I whispered.
I waited a few minutes."Please? You at least owe me this."
After a longer silence than usual, he replied.
"You said bye, so I went. We are not together anymore Ellie." The line went dead.
"What!?"
I tried re-dialling the number. He had blocked me.I felt like my world was over. Piece by piece I began to fall apart. I screamed at the top of my lungs and threw the phone hard at the floor.
That's when I noticed the shears.
I grabbed them and started to hack off my gorgeous long turquoise hair in large clumps.
The tufts settled on my tanned skin, sticking to my tearsMy appearance was broken, like I was.
