You didn't hear from Taehyung again after he left your place that night. Of course, you saw him at work as expected for the rest of that week but something was different. Off.

When you entered your employee's area, you grew accustomed to exchanging the usually heated glance when you walked past Taehyungs cubicle.

But when you did that next morning, you were met with only dead eyes. A dull and uninterested gaze that was so brief, you almost stopped to ask him what his problem was.

But of course, you didn't.

And then there was lunch hour when Taehyung would usually hang back or come back to his cubicle early to get ahead on work. Even if the two of you didn't find an excuse to end up breathless and entangled in the storage closet, the occasional glances in each other's direction were somehow comforting. Just sharing space with only the two of you was enough to get your blood rushing. The chemistry and magnetic energy you shared were potent and undeniable.

But now?....

The air felt empty and sunken when you entered your office. And just when you thought Taehyung would surprise you with a quick lookup from his desk, you wilted when all you saw was his back sway in his wheeled chair as he focused on his computer screen.

Maybe this was it. The 5-month entanglement that was Taehyung had finally run its course and he was over you.

It was fun while it lasted...

You suppose.

Saturday

The office party was in full swing. The company cleared out the buildings cafeteria and had it decorated to resemble an actual event space. Everyone was dressed in there semi casual clothes. You opted for a simple black dress that hugged your every curve perfectly because you felt sexy in it. Also because it was your go to. You never knew what to wear to these damn things. All you did was work so your closet was most definitely lacking in the regular people clothes.

None you'd leave the house in at least.

And just as Hoseok had hoped, almost every employee was in attendance to partake in the obscene amount of food and alcohol he'd ordered.

If anyone wanted to question the budget cuts next quarter, you would be sure to CC Hoseok in every email.

It was hard acting like you were in good spirits when you really werent as the night progressed. Sure you were having a decent enough time, mingling with your peers, being pleasant with the employees that showed up. Meeting some of their spouses, many of which you had no idea were even married.

Shows how much you cared about your staff.

Its not like you were a fan of being the big bad witch of the office. You were in charge of one of the most important departments at your company and you were a woman. You had to run a tight ship and that didn't always entail being nice.

You were efficient. Your records and reports were impeccable. Your team had not one slacker in the lot and you liked to think you had something to do with that.

Whatever.

You mumbled to yourself as you downed your 5th glass of champagne in a row. Holding up the wall and moping as you watched the party carry on in front of you. It was pretty crowded, and you halfway regretted not finding someone at the last minute to accompany you. At least you wouldn't feel so alone. Your mind began drifting, drawing up the beautiful features of the last man you wanted to think about. But you couldn't stop yourself.
