"I had no idea who you were, I swear. My mom and dad got divorced a while ago and my mom gained custody. We never really got along. I was mad at him for destroying our family. My mom said that it was because he was too engrossed in his work. He hardly ever came home at night, the few times he did, they would have a long row that night. We didn't know that the work was you, "

Liam kept looking at me like I would fall and break any moment.

I felt like I would fall and break any moment.

"So, anything about my past?" I asked Connor. We were sitting in a prison cell waiting for someone to bail us out. Liam had called his older brother an he was on his way.

"That's what we're going to try to find. All I got out of my dad is that you were in a car accident and you barely survived."

"Dammit Connor! You know what I'm really asking. Am I alive or dead?" I could feel even my blood getting hot.

"Hey, calm down," Liam said, giving me a worried look.

"Dont tell me to freaking calm down when I might be a freaking walking corpse!"

"Hey," Liam said and put his hands over mine. It felt uncomfortable and his hands were sweaty. "Shh."

"Get away from me. What are you-"

"Shh."

I looked at Connor and then sighed.

"Can you hear that?" Liam asked.

"Hear what?"

"Your breathing." He moved my hand to my chest. "Your heartbeat. I'm not the best Biology student but I do know that those are evidence of life so, please calm down."

"I am just as clueless as you are. That's why we are going to this place," Connor said, holding out a piece of paper.

Paradise.

That's the place?

That's the name?

"Do you know how to get there?" I asked Connor.

"Of course. I've got a map on my phone," he said. "But first, we need to get out of here."

Connor held on to the iron bars trapping us in.

Yeah.

We were in jail.

Apparently, physical combat activity that isn't a sport is against the law.

I took in my surroundings again. The grey cold walls and iron bars with two desks scattered with papers opposite the confinement.

"Anyone ready for some Columbiana activity?" Liam asked.

"No. We are not breaking out of jail. We'll wait for someone to bail us out," Connor said.

"That's cute," Liam said, laughing. "Who exactly is coming to bail us out?"

I looked over at Connor who now had a frown plastered on his face.

"Oh yeah. That's right. No one," Liam said. "So, are you in... or nah?"

Liam looked almost angry. I didn't understand why his parents couldn't come to bail their son out of jail. Maybe they've warned him one too many times or they hated him or something. If it is the hatred thing, I personally do not blame them.

He is heavily talented with asshole abilities.

"So, what's the plan?" I asked.

It wasn't much. It either worked or didn't. We were waiting for questioning in a cell.

Liam was going to distract the policewoman that was watching us as I used a stick to get the keys that were sitting on her desk.

"You've lost weight Sandra," Liam was saying. Signature charming smile, check.
How did he even know her?

Sandra blushed. She was dark skinned and looked young. She looked straight out of college. Or straight dropped out of college. Do they employ college drop outs as cops?

"Your smile is beautiful," I heard again.
Maybe he usually gets thrown into a cell. Into this same cell.

By then, she was already standing in front of our cell giggling at everything Liam said. I took my shot then. And stole the key from Sandra's desk with a tree branch that Liam happened to have. God knows how he happens to have these things. Connor just sat there 'refusing to partake in any further criminal activity'.

When I was pulling in the key, I noticed that Sandra's partner was coming back from his coffee break and so, I tried to pull in the key faster and then it jingled.

"Shit," I swore under my breath as Sandra turned around but Liam was faster and he brought out his hands around her waist from between the bars and pulled her to him, crashing his lips on hers.

I used that opportunity to pull in the keys before her partner came in.

"What is going on here?" the man asked. He was gorgeous. "Sandra..."

"What is it Brian? What? Because everyday, I wear makeup for you. I do not do the first three or four-" Connor cut in.

"It's four."

"Four buttons of my uniform for you but you never notice me even though I'm sitting right across your desk."

"Actually, I just wanted to tell you that your dad is on his way," Brian said. "But you can continue swapping saliva with a high school boy if you like."

Sandra pulled away.

The Sheriff walked in and gave Brian an envelope. "They've been bailed out," he said.

We shared confused looks.

"By who?" Connor asked for us.

"Said their names are James McAvery and Brett Watson. From Paradise."

"Oh my God! Thank God!" I squealed and quickly opened the cell and ran out. "Freedom at last!"

"Sorry about that," I heard Connor say as he dropped the keys on Sandra's desk. The look on the Sheriff's face was priceless. I gave him an awkward smile.

Liam winked at Sandra and I rolled my eyes.

"You let them get the keys?!" I saw Brian glare at Sandra before we walked out of the office with the Sheriff screaming at Sandra, Brian following closely behind. "Can you at least dress properly?"

"That bitch would soon cost me my desk job," he muttered.

"We don't have any criminal records, do we?" Connor asked

"Nothing. Those mug shots were extremely unnecessary," Brian reassured Connor. "We just wanted to scare you kids."

"Mission accomplished," Connor muttered.

Brian let out a low chuckle. His electric blue eyes laughing wildly.

"Stop drooling. It's not attractive," Liam whispered into my ear.

I frowned at him and stuck out my tongue immaturely.

"And you want to get a twenty something year old man's attention."
"Shut up," I said.
"Who are those Paradise people anyways?" Connor asked.
I shrugged.
He looked at Liam who also shrugged.
When we got out, we saw two built men wearing shades and those Bluetooth things on their ears.
"Be sure to stay out of trouble," Brian warned us.
"We'll try," I said.
Brian just smiled. It was pretty obvious he was wild in his days. With that six pack, he could have worked in any strip club of his choice. I'm not sure why but I could really see him as a male stripper. I turned to look at him when I realized he was staring at me with a confused expression.
"Have I seen you somewhere before?" he asked me. I blushed and Liam rolled his eyes.
"Um. No I don't think so," I replied. His look didn't change.
We saw two men in all black suits with Bluetooth earpieces on.
