I Wish I Was Your Star

Whenever you look up at the stars and skies

A fire burns in your eyes.

I wish I caused that light

I wish I was your star in the night.

I wave my hand in front of you, but you just sigh

And bat it away like a pesky fly.

I smile, hoping to catch your eye

But you just nod, waving me away as if to say goodbye.

I wish I was that light up there

That made you gasp, turn your head, and stare.

I wish I was your star that made you smile

But instead I'm a burden, and the only way you act towards me is hostile.
