"So, what made you come to this town of all places? I didn't even know we were on any maps." I joked, hating the awkward silence between us. Other people's voices swarmed around my head, mostly of girls and what they thought about the new guy and why he was seen with me.

"You don't seem like a fan of this place. It seems quiet and... quant." Dylan replied looking around with a small smile. My eyes wandered to the groups of girls murmuring to themselves, gossiping about the new handsome man in town walking with the freaky, quiet girl.

"Quant maybe but quiet no." I said. "At least it hasn't been for me. I'm not very well liked here if you haven't yet noticed." I turned my attention to the prying eyes stuck on us.

"Now I'm intrigued. What'd you do to make them dislike you?" He chuckled as I tried to focus on anything but him. Struggling with keeping other people's thoughts out of my head.  Trying to suppress my own thoughts and feelings about the new guy and his strange attraction.

"That's a story for another time." I answered, unable to look at him for very long as we walked around aimlessly. "Oh, come on. You can't just leave me hangin'. What'd you do? Date all their boyfriends? Were you more popular with the guys in school? I heard that can cause resentment." Dylan said, making me scoff.

"Right, and you would be an expert on that." I replied, making him shrug. "I may or may not have noticed when I went to school. Seems like times don't really change that much." He muttered as I rolled my eyes.

"Seems like you were the cause of the drama. And don't act so high and mighty you don't seem all that older than me." I said. "Let's just say people aren't really a big fan of me." I finished hoping that was the end of this conversation.

"I could've guessed that." Dylan replied with a smirk looking down at me as we walked side by side. I tensed my jaw refraining from turning all my attention to him to give this guy a piece of my mind.

"So, that over there is the town's bakery. The owner's name is Lorena and she has the best pastries. There is the cafe and it's best to get there early or else you'll be waiting in line for a while." I explained pointing to the shops in the distance. I was hoping to change the subject and show him around town like we had agreed on. I wasn't about to gossip with this guy all day.

"Or if your grandmother is friends with the owner like mine then you can get in before they open." I added. "So, there is someone in this town who likes you." Dylan replied as I chose to ignore him.

"That's Joanna's shop. She sells homemade apple cider during the end of the year and it sells out pretty quickly in the day. There's the clock and that's the shoe repair store which is self explanatory." I continued struggling to stay friendly and professional with him. "I hope." I muttered as he chuckled.

"And the diner where most of the teenagers hang out after school. I try to avoid that place like the plague but they do have the best and only burgers and shakes in town." I explained. "So, you've lived here your whole life? You've never ventured out of here?" Dylan asked.

"This little tour was meant for you to get to know the town, not me." I pressed. I stopped walking to face Dylan, making him do the same. "Just wondering if this place is worth sticking around for." He replied as I thought for a moment, never tearing my eyes away from his.

Instinctively trying to figure him out when I shook my head forcing myself to focus on anything but him. I could only imagine what disgusting and childish thoughts he could be having. He definitely didn't seem like the type to have any deep thoughts about life and literature. Dylan was just like every other guy here fawning over every attractive girl to walk by and failing to muster up the courage to speak to them.
