"So what're you in collage for?" Tyler asked sipping his tea

"For fashion designing."

"Like, dressed and shit?" He asked

"Fashion isn't just dresses it's whatever you want it to be."

"Oh. That's awesome but why do you need collage for that?"

"Cause...if they see a black girl with no experience and no degree, they're not gonna take me seriously."

"That's not necessarily true."

"Sure it is. It's statistics."

"Hm."

"Well what do you do then. Have you even gone to collage?"

"Nah."

"Have you thought about it?"

"Nah."

"So like I asked. What do you do?"

"I make stuff."

I waited for him to elaborate, which he didn't.

"Make what?"

"Music, shoes. Shit I like."

"And you're making a living off that?"

"Yeah. I'm doing pretty well actually."

"So you're like a what; celebrity?"

"I wouldn't say all that but I gotta pretty strong fanbase."

"That's cool. What's your stage name?"

"Eh, I don't wanna talk about it. Let's go back to you. How old are you?"

"19."

"You look a lil older. I'm not calling you old or anything I'm just saying you look sophisticated and strong, but not like masculine strong or anything I see the woman in you; fuck that was weird. You're pretty, ok? Pretty."

I smiled and looked down.

"Thank you Tyler. You're really sweet. And you're cute."

"I know."

I laughed and looked back up at him.

"You never really lacked confidence have you?"

"Nope." He shook his head

"What did you do in high school? Like sports or anything?"

"Nah, my mom signed me up for basketball once and I wasn't good at all. I know they say all black people are good at basketball but it ain't true. But I signed up for theater but they kicked me out the first day cause I was too 'hyper' and I tried band but I couldn't join cause I couldn't read sheet music."

"What instrument were you trying to read for?"

"Drums."

I nodded my head.

"But aren't all theater kids like...weird and over..."

I tried to think of a word.

"Over dramatic."

"Yeah but I guess I was too much for them."

"Well I like someone who can spice shit up you know. Like who wants a boring ass nigga who just is quiet all the time-"

"Are you saying you want me?"

"No, I never said that-"

"But you implied it."
