With a hard gasp, my body jerked into a seated position.

Female Unknown: "Dive right!"

Uncontrollably my body sprung to the right allowing a bolt of blue energy to streak past me and hit the ground.

Female Unknown: "I know you have questions but, I need you to move now!"

I got my feet under me and took off through the woods.

Female Unknown: "We have to get out of the open there's a -"

Male Unknown: "Storm coming, I can smell it in the air."

Female Unknown: "We have to lose these Fallen first. Any ideas?"

I hid behind a large tree and quickly scanned the area.

Male Unknown: "Nothing but trees as far as my eyes see."

Female Unknown: "We have to think of something or your resurrection will be for nothing."

As I glanced around my surroundings again, there was a large four-armed creature in the distance. I crouched down and braced myself against the tree.

Male Unknown: -whispered- "What the hell is that thing?"

Female Unknown: -whispered- "Fallen Captain. Not someone you want to try and go hand-to-hand with. Typically, the Fallen operate in squads; one Captain, two Vandals, two Marauders, and normally about four Dregs."

I could hear the captain speak, what came across to me as gibberish but, the female must have understood it.

Female Unknown: "I think they're giving up the search. I couldn't completely hear him."

I slowly rose to my feet and continued my escape, moving in and out of cover to avoid line of sight.

After a few minutes of walking, I came up to a river. I kneeled dipping my hands in the water.

Female Unknown: "I guess it's time to start explaining huh?"

Male Unknown: "That would be nice."

Female Unknown: "I know this may come as a shocker but, you've been dead for quite some time. Years to be exact...and I've spent the last six months of those searching for you. It's like everything was against me finding you. Every time I'd venture out, I'd either run into the Fallen, or a powerful storm would force me to retreat to the Last City."

Male Unknown: "Dead for years huh? That would explain why I can't remember anything about who I am."

Female Unknown: "I don't know. That's a common thing with Guardians, once rezzed they have no recollection of their previous life."

Male Unknown: "So, there's others like me? Other Guardians."

Female Unknown: "Thousands, if not millions, all across the Solar System and beyond. There's an entire city of them here on Earth, that's where I'm trying to get you. The Last Safe City."

I glanced up at the sky before washing the dirt off my face.

Male Unknown: "How far are we?"

Female Unknown: "Far enough that we would need a jump ship to get there in at least a day's trip.

Male Unknown: "In other words, we must find shelter for the night. So now there's only one thing left to ask."

Female Unknown: "And what's that?"

I slowly stood up and looked at the small being materializing before me.

Male Unknown: "What are you and what's your name?"
