Terrifyingly, the bull shark made no sound. Sharks are silent predators, streamlined and adjusted to make no noise as they slice through the sea.

Fuck. Well, maybe it hasn't seen me- The shark bumped Iwaizumi's surfboard with his nose.

Oh, shit. Hajime slowly drew his hands out of the water, away from immediate biting range.

Suddenly, his surfboard, which had served him well and faithfully through many a strong wave, felt very, very flimsy.

The bull shark bumped him again, more forcefully this time. He gritted his teeth and hung on, trying to stay above the water.

The shark opened his mouth. Rows upon rows of white teeth flashed. Tiny bits and pieces of former kills were caught in between his teeth, a fate Iwaizumi seemed about to share. Animalistic fear of the gigantic predator zinged through him, paralyzing him.

The bull shark lunged upward.

He leaped off the surfboard just in time. The shark snapped the board in two and chomped down on it savagely. Finding no meat, he turned to face Hajime, baring his terrible teeth.

Fear like he'd never known shot through Iwaizumi's veins. Somehow, instinct took over. He grabbed some broken pieces of his surfboard. The shark swam at him, faster than a man could run. He dodged to one side, but not quite fast enough.

The bull shark caught his arm. He bit down viciously, severing bone and muscle alike. Iwaizumi stabbed him in the side with the pointed pieces. Blood flowed from the shark's ribs. He snarled silently and bit Hajime's shoulder. He howled. Excruciating pain replaced the paralyzing fear in his body.

Somehow, he had enough wit left to jab the bull shark in the ribs harder. The bull shark let go of him. He stabbed him again. The shark convulsed and grabbed him by the lower neck, biting him one final time.

The spiky haired male screamed in agony. He twisted the pieces in the shark's side. The bull shark let go and convulsed harder. After a moment, he stopped moving. Dead.

His body began to sink, drifting into the watery deep. Iwaizumi shuddered in repressed terror. Suddenly, he wanted to be as far away from the water as possible. The adrenaline began to wear off. His arm and shoulder cried out in pain. Blood poured from the wounds.

I have to get going, he realized, his thoughts murky. The blood will attract other predators. He shuddered wildly. The mere thought of more sharks was terrifying.

He giggled insanely. Stop it! The blood loss is making you go loopy. Swim, damn it! You're miles away from shore, and the only way to change that is to swim. So swim, asshole!

He worked to propel himself through the water. Normally, he swam almost as fast as Oikawa, but now any movement brought pain. Saltwater stung his injuries mercilessly. His damaged arm couldn't move very far. He struggled to breathe. Somehow, the wounds on his neck hurt more than anything else. For some reason, he found this very funny.

He started laughing, then choking as he inhaled seawater. Funny, he thought crazily, I escaped a bull shark. I killed him. But now I'm going to die here in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, swimming for an island that's miles away. That's ironic!

He swam with the tide. Blood poured from him like rain during a storm, leaving a clear path through the waves. The saltwater still stung his injuries madly, but he kept swimming, hoping to somehow keep the pain at bay. Weariness dragged at his limbs, pulling him into the abyss.
