Chapter 4

Princess Adhiya's pov

Tomorrow, we have are last day in gurukul. I have learned all the things which are required to become a great ruler and I am the best sword fighter here in the gurukul till now this is what Guru ji (teacher) had told me. I must say I truly respect my guru ji because he never discriminated us (shruti and me) from boys. And taught us everything which he taught the boys all the fighting skills, scriptures and general code of conduct in the court.

And soon I will be returning to my kingdom.
"You know that soon our new queen will be revealed." shruti said excitingly.

"She will be our new ruler and so what?" I spoke. I wanted to find out her opinion on this topic because she is the only one, I had truly cared for.

"You should know there never had been a female ruler before and I think she will become a great queen and marry someone who will then become the king beside her."

"So, what's special about it?"
I said but her words really did affect me but I don't think that King Vikram will do this to me after I prove I will be the best option for ruling the Vikramgarh kingdom.

"Let it be you never get excited about anything." She said with a tinge of sadness.

"Listen it's that I don't care whoever she is because it will not affect our friendship."
Oops...here we go another lie to fix this mess. I haven't really thought what her reaction would be if she finds out I am a princess I don't want to ruin this friendship because she is the only friend I have in my life.

"How does it affects our friendship?" she asked quizzically.

"Forget it." I said as I brushed of my mistake.

"You know sometimes I feel like I don't even know you even after all these 5 years." She replied quietly.
She did hit a nerve but I don't want to lose my only friend who really cares about me.
"What do you want to know?" I asked her in a low tone.

"Nothing, let's enjoy our last day here."
She said cheering me up.

We talked till late night and I don't remember when we felt asleep.

Next day as it was last day we gathered in the grounds and had a big prayer ceremony. After the prayers I went towards my Guru ji for his blessings along with Shruti.

He blessed us with his warm words, "You young ladies are ready for world from this day onwards. Don't forget the teachings and always remain kind to others even if they aren't."

After some time, everyone's parents started coming to take their children home. Parents were happy to finally see their kids after such a long period. Even though me being a princess I will always stay jealous of them for having something that I always crave for.

I knew my parents Will not be coming as they are busy as usual fulfilling their duties towards their kingdom.
But to my surprise...
"Queen" I said in a low voice. Bowing my head in her respect.

Everyone around me were shocked and started bowing in front of her. Some of the people had looks which clearly showed that they couldn't believe their eyes. Mostly which consisted of my peers who felt scared.

"Oh Princess Adhiya, I missed you a lot." She said in her motherly tone. Drama that's what she does in public so that it doesn't ruin her reputation.

"Really I thought you were happy sending me here, queen" I said in a bitter voice making sure she feels it.

"It's not like that, you know we just wanted you to make a great ruler, princess." she said in a tone which would made any onlooker believe a affectionate exchange between a mother daughter duo. 

"Or you mean well trained who can act as a good puppet of yours. " I said indignantly.

"Princess stop this and be a good girl" she said brushing me off. Once again, she stopped me from letting out the truth. Truth which she has mastered to hide from the people.

"As you say, queen." I replied defeatedly.

" If you don't remember but I am your mother as well and we only want your good." She said calmly.

If you looked at us from far you would probably believe a fine conversation taking place between a mother and daughter. But it was just dialogue between the queen of vikramgarh and the princess.

"Ok let's just go." I finally said to end this awkward situation and save us both from embarrassment.

Shruti was giving me glares as she finally know that I am princess.... trust me I am also not very happy about it.

I gave one last hug to shruti who was busy giving glares to me.
I wanted to meet shruti parents but I decided against it because I can't make my mo... I mean queen wait.
