On edge

I finally managed to remember how to get to Kingdom's Edge, and as such, I led the knight to king's station. Sure enough, there in the water, was a hole in the wall, just large enough to fit through. Poking my head through, I heard one of the most dreaded sounds in Hallownest.

"Squeak?" Dear Wyrm. It was a belfly. With no way to get past without being killed, I turned to the knight, to strategize. Their blank stare wasn't exactly turning up any ideas, so I tried to come up with a few. Then the knight charged headfirst through the hole in the wall.

There was a screech, a lot of splashing, and an explosion. Then all was silent. Peeking through the gap, I saw the knight standing on dry land. To this day, I don't know how they survived. There were a few more belflies, but they were easier to avoid on land.

We were greeted with what looked like a blown up section of the wall. There was light filtering through it, suggesting we had found our way out of the tunnel we were in. The ashes served as a definitive proof of where we were. We had found the Kingdom's Edge.

Stepping out, a large, round creature flew up to us, almost as if to say hello. It seemed happy to have new friends, and flew off on it's own. I love booflies.

Unfortunately, there was only one way to get anywhere in kingdom's edge, and it involved a lot of falling. The knight, was not one for hesitation, and threw themself  off the ledge. Not wanting to lose the knight, I followed.

The knight made the jump, relatively easy. It looked like I would do the same, until I got hit, midair. Something heavy had fallen on me, and now I was falling with it. Fortunately, I landed on a friendly Boofly, who dropped us off on a nearby platform. Crawling out from under the object, I decided to see what it was.

Oh. It was a corpse. Worse yet, was that I knew who it was. The green hood, and circular shield, gave Tiso away. Tiso had fallen from above, from the colosseum. Tiso wasn't the only corpse falling from the colosseum. Many others were now raining down from above. The knight had made their way down to me, and together, we ran through the first opening we could find.

The only problem, was that we were really low. Being low, led us into direct conflict with some of the more dangerous creatures that lived here.

Attempting to move forward, brought us to THE creature. Satan's favorite creature was flying right in front of us. It's four eyes blinked slowly at us. I looked to the knight, to solve this problem, and they delivered. The knight shot 27 vengeful spirits at it. How in Hallownest they were able to cast that many, was beyond me, but it worked, sending the primal aspid into a wall, promptly killing it.

Fighting our way through a few more aspids, and one or two great hoppers, we soon arrived at a small hut. It didn't seem like anyone was home, so we decided to rest for a little while. There was just one problem. There WAS someone home. And he didn't look happy about two small visitors with swords.

He grumbled, and spoke. "I suppose you're here to learn the ways of the nail. Fine. While I must teach you my art, by order of the great nailsage, he didn't say it had to be free. If you TRULY want to learn from me, then prove it." The knight saw incredible value in this, and tossed him enough geo to train the both of us.

Training didn't take long for the knight, as they were already skilled with a nail, and simply had to try a few times to fully master Oro's nail art. Oro didn't really seem to notice or care, that I had very little experience with a nail. After embarrassing myself several times, I finally got the hang of it. After training, Oro hurried us out of his home. He really enjoyed his solitude apparently.

Of course, it was time to get back to work. And right now, that involved climbing back up. Fighting our way through, we soon made it to a campsite at the peak of kingdom's edge. Everyone there was dead. What a surprise. We rested for a short while, before continuing on our journey.

Shortly after leaving the camp, we found Hornet. She ran away, like normal, and the knight followed without hesitation. There was no turning back now.

Aaaaaaaaand that's it for this chapter! Sorry to pull another cliffhanger, but this one was getting really long, and the fight in the next chapter is going to have quite some length to it. I hope you enjoyed, and like always, I'll see you in the next chapter!
