Chapter°Five

"I hate this."

"Come on dude, it's not that bad, I mean check out the girls! Or the food, you can't go wrong with food,but not if it's peanut butter." Daylyn said with a disgusted face. It was the next night and I was at the little get together my dad had planned for his company's achievements. All I saw were old people and fancy suites. I saw some women about my age too, but they were after all the rich old guys.

But, this is normal, parties like these can only stir up trouble.

"Son, I'm glad you could make it." I look up to see my dad was approaching me with wide arms."Uh hey Dad." I said and he smiled brightly before . He lead me towards a group of men in suits."Gentlemen, meet my son Liam." All of the men began to greet me eagerly, and I just nodded awkwardly, what is my Dad up to?"So you're the brilliant son that's going to take over the company?" He asked patted and my shoulder. I glanced at my Dad, but all he did was nod and smile.

"Actually, I 'm not taking over the company, I'm studying to become a computer scientist." I said proudly and the smile on the man's face had quickly faded. It was gone as quickly as it came."That's just a side career he's taking, he definitely taking over the company." My Dad said as he continued to show them a bright smile. I glanced around the room and noticed that people were taking subtle glances at my dad.

They were definitely here to get on his good side just so they could get a little cash. I can't blame them though, because if I were them I would've done the exact same thing.

I decided to not correct him again. i want to see how long he can keep this up. He can't make me do anything. I'm a 20 year old grown adult, he cannot make me do anything."I see then he must  be very busy." The man said as his smile suddenly appeared again, it's like he was switching personality's every time someone spoke.

"Yes, my son cannot wait to take over the company one day, he has recently been studying in order to do his future job correctly." My Dad and I side glanced him. The man looked overly joyed as soon as those words came out of my dad's mouth.

So he likes to lie as well?

How low of him.

"I love studying so much that I even study on my off days." I said and smiled at my Dad who began to look nervous. He didn't like the fact that I was adding on to this already untrue lie. It didn't matter though, because the old man was eating up everything that came his way.

He was smiling from ear to ear. He was so happy that it was creepy."I'm glad to hear that, I have a daughter who is quite similar to you sure the two of you would get along quit well." H e said, and I turned my head towards my Dad. I didn't think he would go as far as a blind date for the benefit of his company.

But he would, and he did.

"Yes of course, he would love that." My Dad raised his wine glass to slightly tap the old mans glass, as if that was an agreement that was already discussed. The old man soon left to socialize with other people and this was my Que to leave and never go back, but before I could  my Dad put his hand on my shoulder.

'"What were you thinking?" He said and I looked at me disbelief."I should be the one asking you that Dad, I didn't know you wanted me to take over the company that bad." I said and he scoffed."You are taking over the company, I just had to give them something to expect." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"Ask one of my older brothers, I'm still in college." I said and he shook his head."They were busy they refused to listen to me." I smiled lightly,"I guess I should follow in the footsteps of my big brother's then." I brushed his hand off my shoulder and began to walk towards a food stand in the middle of the already gigantic room.

"Liam?"

I turn around and almost fall when I see someone I wasn't expecting to see until the next day."Riley?" I said and she smiled brightly. She wore an all black dress that shown her shoulders."What are you doing here?" I asked as I studied her appearance. I never knew a person could get this beautiful in less than one day."My dad's a secretary for one of the big shots here, how about you?" She said and stepped closer towards me.

"My Dad is a big shot and I just so happen to be his son." I said and she laughed."Are you perhaps here with your boyfriend?" I asked and her eyes slightly widened."No of course not, my dad has no idea about him anyway, I'd be exposing myself if I brought him here." She said as she shook her head. Her braids were neatly in place on her head and she constantly brushed them off her shoulders.

"Perfect." I said and she looked at me confused."What was that?"

"Oh nothing, would you like a drink?" She nodded her head and I lead her away from the crowd of people and towards the bar. I think today was the luckiest day I've had in years.

Not only did I shut my down my Dad, but I also got to see Riley all dressed up. I wasn't expecting her to show up but I'm glad she did. If her boyfriend would have shown up I'd think I'd have to punch him. I'd have to give him what he gave me.

Just to be fair, he hit me first, so he deserves it. Also he's plain rude, even though I haven't even spoken one word to this guy, because from the looks of it he already hates me. He didn't even give me chance to explain. I could've gotten out of there smoothly and pain free.

But, I'll just also forget the fact that Riley is way out of my league.
